3. Left side of the brain would affect his right side...
...so I don't think the clenched fist is a symptom, but he's surely very stressed right now. Looks like he's trying to keep his spirits up, though, and that's good!

8. That's why I edited the post.
Right versus left has never been one of my strong-suits.

It also appears his hand has been like this for a while, perhaps due to his carotid artery difficulties.

14. I sent this note to his Senate email today.
It may have just been selfishness, but I felt a little more steady after.

Dear Senator Kennedy,

I was only a little 3 year old girl when my mother, still waiting for her citizenship papers, took me with her to walk for your brother Jack. One of my earliest memories is jumping on our three piece turquoise sectional and throwing around left-over campaign literature, playing "Kennedy won!" that morning.

My mother and I have together walked for every national campaign you and your brothers mounted. That was how I spent quality time with my mom and I wish I could go back and do it all over again.

The night we lost the president, my mother had to stop nursing my brother. The night we lost Bobby, my big Latino family sat in semi-darkness because everyone was too stricken to turn on a light in the gathering darkness.

When you had your own trial, we prayed for you and we knew you would come out on top. Because even then, we recognized your fighting spirit. And because we trusted you. That trust has only grown and deepened over these many years.

You, the three of you brothers, have always been a source of strength for me and, I know, for my cousins, trying to make our way in this country and trying to find a way to contribute. I'm sure many people of my age, which you have no business asking about, feel the same way. I may be way out here in California, but I have been in your back pocket since before I could actually speak English as a child. ('Way to get 'em early.)

Dear Senator Teddy: you have been our stalwart when no one would stand up for us, and we love you so very much. I know your family is around you and I know you will meet this challenge as energetically as you have fought for us all these years.

We are right there with you, the millions of us who know with so much gratitude your thousand kindnesses. God bless you. Of course, he will. He has blessed us with you, so, we should know by now, he's paying attention.
