HILLARY WINS KENTUCKY!
CNN and MSNBC project that Hillary will win Kentucky by a "wide margin". Perhaps by 30, according to CNN. Better than expected!!

Go Hill!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

52. Whatever. But why be so mealy mouthed
about a great democrat?
Her speech made it clear she is for unity. She will support the actual nominee.
Meanwhile she won a state.
She has done amazingly well.

11. That's great!
I'm very interested in the Oregon vote. I think Obama will win, but I don't know by how much. The voting system is so different from Washington's - all mail, and it's a primary. Obama won the Washington caucuses handily, but when we had a primary the following week (which didn't count) there were more than twice as many voters and the margin was much, much narrower.

37. Wrong - Even in KY 54% think he will be the nominee
It's interesting that although Hillary is preferred in KY and will win with a large margin, probably over 65% of the vote, they are realists and expect that Obama will be the nominee as opposed to here where many Hillary supporters cling to an unrealistic hope that she can win although the numbers make it a virtual impossibility.

From CNN Senior Political Analyst Bill Schneider

(CNN) – We found a point of agreement among voters in both Kentucky and Oregon: a majority of Democrats in both states think Barack Obama will be the party’s nominee.

But many more voters in Oregon say he will win than those in Kentucky — where nearly two in five voters say Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee, and only a slim majority say Obama will be the party's choice.

In Kentucky, 54 percent of voters said Obama would win the nomination, while 42 percent said Clinton would. But in Oregon nearly 80 percent said Obama will be the nominee while only 17 percent thought Clinton would be.

It’s another sign Clinton’s supporters in Kentucky, and states like it, remain fiercely loyal to the New York Democrat and hopeful of her chances.

28. How is 30 "better than expected" ...
...when every single poll had her winning by that margin? The RCP *average* was Clinton by 29 for cripes sake. Anyway... enjoy the opportunity to celebrate for the next few hours. We will then return to our regularly scheduled Obama-clinching-the-nomination.

(I would have just left this alone completely and let you celebrate, but you just HAD to try and keep spinning the results instead of just accepting the positive that did exist, didn't you?)

That's the only way she can stop Obama from clinching the delegate lead. He needs only 29% of KY to do that.

One of the poorest communities in the country and they will STILL vote against their own interest.

KY - land of "kill the queers, a woman belongs in the home, blacks to the back of the bus".

The only thing Kentucky is good for is a few delegates. Thats it.

48. Yay Hillary
Obama's got to stop blowing by these Appalachia states. It's one thing to lose, but by ignoring the states, he's just alienating these voters. If he's the "unity" candidate, he needs to prove that by going into areas where he isn't so popular as well.

58. MSNBC is full of shit. Kentucky is "red" because the last Dem win was 1996
Edited on Tue May-20-08 08:08 PM by McCamy Taylor
but Oregon is Blue...because the last Dem win was by 6k votes Gore in 2000. Oregon went for Bush in 2004 and only recently has turned Democratic. Kentucky voted for Clinton before and might again.

Both states are mostly white and mostly average income and both are in play if the Dems place them in play.

"Has she won the battle of perception?" KO

I don't know about that. But she has won the battle of Kentucky, 2:1. And only 2 out of 10 voters said that race made a difference in their vote, meaning that most of her voters were color blind.

Read the tea leaves. GE is stumping for more nukes!
