4. Racism + Poverty
It's the legacy of the civil war and it runs deep, deep, deep.

Of course, many of the voters believe that Hillary is the better candidate.

What they many won't admit though is that they would never vote for one of "them".

19. No tag needed.
Obama supporters have not been coy or subtle about this. They feel if you don't vote for the Leader you are a racist. The posts here are full of it.

15. That's not what I said...
But I absolutely said racism is a bigger part of the fabric of this state than most others.

Goes back to slavery and the outcome of the civil war.

I do not think all or most Clinton voters are inherently racist though.

Thanks.

17. Yes but...
The legacy, the aftermath and the attitudes were right in their back yard.

Lynchings, Klan meetings, etc. Scary stuff.

18. West Virginia and Kentucky is the south without the blacks...
Edited on Tue May-20-08 06:38 PM by Obamaniac
Obama did well in the other southern states because they have HUGE black populations. West Viriginia and Kentucky, although they have some blacks, don't have a lot. These are the racist, uninformed, uneducated types we have heard about our whole lives. This is racism at it's purist.

That's why you see these numbers how 2/3 won't vote for Obama here. The same wouldn't be true in other Hillary won states. The difference here is that these people would never vote for a black man --- period. Hillary is only benefiting from the anti-Obama vote. We've seen this phenomenon throughout Appalachia. Other states were offset by urban communities and/or large black populations. West Virigina and Kentucky don't have either.

We Obamaphiles just have to eat the big shit sandwich that is American racism.

22. Interesting Stat - the Edwards Endorsement
Very Important -- (18%) - 45% - 51%

45% of those who said the Edwards endorsement was VERY important - voted for Clinton. Go figure.
