I love seeing the way they look at him. They KNOW he's going to be the next president.
You can't listen to him speak, especially in person,
You can't listen to him speak and not know this man,
Who has just rekindled your hope,
Something you thought extinguished for years,
And who has inspired you that this casket,
That this unclosed casket that our Nation has climbed inside,
That we can escape it and recover things that we took for granted in better times.

You can't help but look at that man and just know.

  This picture...look at these faces:

Down to the little girls. They all know, even if some are too young to understand.

And those that understand, reach- not to touch some rock-star...but to thank him.

are a rock band that performed immediately before Obama's large rally in Oregon. Clinton supporters had floated the notion that attendees came to hear the Decembrists more than to see Obama and depicted the media as anti-Clinton for not highlighting this fact.

"Barack," he said, "means the same as baruch - it means one who's blessed."

"above" doing anything that might appeal to THOSE PEOPLE. ..This is part of the reason the Washington elite hated Bill Clinton. A Democrat who appeals to the common man? No no, can't have that!"talkleft Now remove Bill's name and add Hillary's and you have another candidate that appeals to the common person.

"There was a time when the Democratic party went too far in the way of populism (William Jennings Bryant). Now we run away from it...I would think that Kerry, Gore, Dukakis, Mondale, McGovern, etc.and now obama would be some kind of lesson. Clearly not. This party needs to be held back a grade." talkleft

"The argument that Clinton's supporters are racists proves that Obama is unelectable. No candidate can win the general election if over half of Democratic voters refuses to vote for him because he is black." talkleft.

"truth to power" is a little specious. You aren't comfortable with someone who could BEGIN to make the changes the country really needs to make.

Better he tries and fails than Bill and Hillary giving the Bush cabal a pass on their near complete destruction of the Constitution.

Obama is a Constitutional lawyer. Hillary represented Wall Mart.

She cannot run a campaign and she is not qualified to run this country.

She represents the big dollar/big power interests your username is SUPPOSED to be fighting against.

Yet, your hostility is impressive.

27. How can you see hostility in the photos I shared?

Oh, he’s not fully enlightened, being that enlightenment is a process, not an event. But for reasons I can’t fully articulate, he is one of those individuals who communicates God-like energy (metaphorically speaking), in whom you can “feel” God.
http://www.jg-tc.com/articles/2008/03/31/opinion/letters/doc47f0586a2ff1b441328510.txt
Now, I’m using the term “God” to mean the loving, honest, just, and inspiring part of the force behind it all. You may not believe something’s behind it all, but I do. And I look for God constantly — that which exudes love, integrity, humility, depth, kindness, generosity — and more ... supposedly.

So, Geraldine, I’m taking a special look at Barack Obama because he’s a lot closer to a Jesus-type than the other candidates, by quite a bit. What if God decided to incarnate as men preaching “hope and change.” And what if we didn’t recognize them, because we are so dull, and let them slip away, not availing ourselves of the opportunity to be led by God! Lord knows we’ve elected the anti-Christ often enough. Excuse me, George.

So you can imagine why even a white male like myself would be interested in a candidate “talking” the way Barack is talking. For those of you who are confused, what Barack is saying is in line with what God him/her/itself would say.

Secondly, my interest in Barack has nothing whatsoever to do with him being black, although it would be an ultimate irony that a black man was used to help set us free.

72. It is fascinating

What he is offering is for the courageous, for those who have the heart to move beyond just dreams, and into realms never experienced in American history.

What he is offering is beyond hope, hope is just a starting point, like the intimate binding of struggle between his example of the young white girl and the old black man.

What he is offering is for those who look to the next generation, believing that perfection is not in the eyes of the beholder, but reality which we can't avoid

What he is offering is a solution for opportunities for more solutions to tackle root issues that have paralyzed a nation fit for perfection

What he is offering is the antisynthesis to an ideology of hate and a philosophy of inferiority

What he is offering is an agreement between struggles and a covenant for perfection, in that nothing is impossible if one begins with hope and the assurance of faith

Illustration which accompanied the Wilamette Week's endorsement of Barack Obama April 30th, 2008 - http://wweek.com/editorial/3425/10870/

Michelle- Barack Obama is the ONLY person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.

There is lot's more.

I listened to that endorsement and Barack's speech afterwards and Obama, to me, must be not just an ordinary human being but indeed an Advanced Soul, come to lead America out of this mess, if we no if They, let them, but we too have a say in this Democracy, this Barack well knows. Through this trial-by-fire, recently experienced by him, he has been Humble, Noncombative, Noncritical and committed to doing his work on this earth to make it a more better and perfect union.... http://wweek.com/editorial/3425/10870/

94. I'm calling 'shenanigans' on you.
"2rth2pwr":

The picture of Sen Obama with Oprah, (judging from their outfits and the time of day) is from the SC rally. That lame-ass pre-fab photoshop lens flare was *added* to the picture to give the 'beatific' effect you're trying to illustrate in your disingenuous collection of quotes and photographs.

other pictures from that rally...where the hell is that impossibly floating softbox light coming from?

this is as 'glowy' a picture as i could find from that event:

I'm willing to believe some of the lighting is for real if this is a video still captured and scrubbed to freeze at the moment of a flash (again disingenuous in looking for ways to misrepresent the photo, which I'm betting is not from his campaign). But that lens flare is pure ...

shenanigans.

Since all of your pictures appear in a clearly anti-Obama blog obamamessiah.blogspot.com, and pretty much in the same order, the hostility of your source material is transferred to the intent of your post. Res ipso loquitur and all that.

I think Superman's pissed off at you, ya League of Supervillains Shenanigans-er.

YES ... it goes back to 1993 and before. Poor Nell!

Like it or not, EVERY election has a large element of faith ... hope for better. Hope for justice. NOTHING is ever certain. If anything, it speaks to the HIGHER ASPIRATIONS of ordinary people for the better realization of the values and beliefs we teach our children. It's about values and principles. It's CYNICISM vs. ASPIRATION. I'll vote 'aspiration' EVERY time! Every time. George W. Bush is what cynicism brings.

15. Beautiful people, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE
Modern English - Beautiful People lyrics

If you know how I'm feeling,
You'll hear just what I say,
About the world outside your window,
Let's take it all the way.

Beautiful people,
Flowers in your hair,
Far too caring for the world out there,
I love your voice,
Beautiful people,
Love, love, love,
Beautiful people.

It came to me this morning,
On a wing and a prayer,
These words are for the people,
Three's so much we can share,

Love, love, love

I want to know,
Will these thoughts ever go,
For the rest of my life,
Will I feel these words are right.

When you use your voice,
Everyone can hear it.

Love, love, love

Beautiful people, yeah,
All we need is love, love, love

25. Same kind of look I've seen on the faces of Michael Jackson fans.
He is a rock star politician...much like young Bill Clinton was...and look what they did and are doing to him. Come November, the game will change. McCain WILL NOT be the GOP standard-bearer. Obama camp will be thrown off message when the new GOP ticket is announced. It will be comfortable for the RW to vote for AND nullify Bob Barr's run. If a new GOP candidate is ont top, Barr will not run in November. The RW will solidfy and unify around a pair of very appealing moderate/conservatives over whom the RW will swoon just as the left is swooning over Obama.

This will be the October surprise...but of course, not to us because you now know.

Not knowing him personally, I think he's probably smart enough but I don't think he has anywhere nearly enough experience for the depth of trouble that this country is in. I have real problems with the reaching across the aisle thing. That generally means we should expect to see people start trading things that may be near and dear to our hearts away to the republicans in exchange for what? The republicans appear to be better at trading and bargaining than the democrats.

They bought it. Nothing wrong with that.

Remains to be seen whether or not he can actually deliver though.

If he cannot unite the divisions in the party then he just might lose the general election.

Even if he does win there is a real question as to whether or not he can bring meaningful change to politics in Washington. I don't see members of the legislature and judiciary jumping on that bandwagon.

89. your post exemplifies precisely what turns me off so strongly about Hillary's current incarnation.
And her campaign. And her supporters.

The pettiness. The derisiveness. The grousy cynicism. The almost gleeful (if any "glee" can be found in the Clinton campaign) lack of vision or enthusiasm or anything even resembling a notion that politics at its best can speak to the better angels of our nature. (remember that line?)

Hillary Clinton has made it more than apparent she would sell a lot of shit down the river for political gain- starting with her calculating vote for the IWR, and her calculated refusal to admit it was a mistake.

This is precisely why Obama has beaten her. A lot of us are tired of that shit. We WANT something better. We are not so old and tired and beaten down and bitter that we believe that it is impossible to ever have anything better.

You still don't get it.

the best analysis of the difference between camps. The supporters are mirrors of their candidates. Hillary's = cynical, Obama's = hopeful.

I've been cynical since 2000. It's way more exhausting than daring to think that things can be better than they've been the past 7 1/2 years.

Messianic? People get this excited over a football game for gawd sake. What's so horrible about being excited or inspired by a talented politician who might be the next President? At least he's a Democrat offering a POSITIVE message, giving us something to be hopeful about after the last 7 1/2 LONG depressing years. What is SO wrong with that? Are you THAT negative about everything in your life? Or you're just upset because he's more charismatic than Hillary? People still act this way with Bill Clinton (I used to be one of them!), I don't see any Hillary supporters trying to rain on that parade.
