Feinstein Backs Obama-Clinton Dream Ticket

WASHINGTON (AP) ― California Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein, a staunch supporter of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, says that if Sen. Barack Obama becomes the Democratic nominee he should pick Clinton as his running mate.

Feinstein said she hasn't discussed it with Clinton. But she said that combining the two constituencies that each candidate has attracted would make for the strongest ticket.

Feinstein, a longtime friend of Clinton's, emphasized that she doesn't view Obama's nomination as a foregone conclusion. And Feinstein said that if Clinton becomes the nominee she should pick Obama as her running mate.

37. Since when did those losing the primary nomination become so toxic?
Even Dean's most ardent supporters came around and behaved better than this. We have all gone down the path of our chosen candidate not making the cut for the nomination.

I just don't understand why some of these so-called Democrats are seriously stomping their feet and threatening to hold their breath til the party acquiesces to their choice.

38. Well its understandable once you accept the premise that Hillary
presents an absolutely historic opportunity for women to achieve equal status.

Hillary is transformed from the person that we all see to an iconic figure that literally ranks with Jackie Robinson.

All of the attacks on her remind her supporters of the attacks they have felt in competing in a man's world.

Now here is where the bitterness sets in. If the men were not so impatient we could have had it all Clinton/Obama for 8 years

and 8 years of Obama. It would usher in 16 years of democratic supremecy. It would erase away both the sexist and race barriers.

But it is all endangered because Obama's ambition and now he is the enemy.

I don't agree with it but I understand it. I don't think she would have won a GE campaign and I don't think she would have made a very effective President.

The irony is that it is much closer to a kool aid drinking cult than Obama's ever was.

but it's always refreshing to hear the republica mantra "You lost! Get over it!"

It's like a trip down memory lane.

43. Her candidacy is dead in the water. She can't exceed him in delegate count which is THE metric.
Just because she and some of her supporters refuse to acknowledge that teensy factoid doesn't make it less true. She simply doesn't have the grace to accept her defeat and chooses instead to make an ass out of herself with her incessant series of pathetic ploys, machinations, and threats.

16. whatever. after you get over your poor widdle martyred self, you can help put a Dem in the WH
somehow, by some tremendous act of courage and self-sacrifice, many many people were able to get through the heartache, the trauma, the unbearable tragedy of seeing first Kucinich and then Edwards be "kicked to the curb" and have managed to go on living. :sarcasm:

so try to bear it. :nopity:

Feinstein knows that the DLC warmongers occupying this party are finished unless the Clintons hold on to power. Hell, Obama might even end the Iraq war, and then Diane and her husband would actually lose money. :scared:

We definately need a new Senator. Barbara Lee would be a much better choice imo.

20. Putting Clinton on the ticket will only appease some Dems --
NOT attract crossover votes. The Repubs would come out en masse to vote AGAINST her. It's not just Dems voting in November, but people seem to be unable to look that far ahead.

I don't like Feinstein either. She's too moderate - doesn't really stand up for the people in our state. I've written to her many times about issues and have heard back, oh, I think.... once? Boxer, on the other hand, always sends something.

Sorry, Diane, you're too old school politics and definitely don't understand what your constituents want.

27. Feinstein is not being realistic
Can you imagine Hillary putting her heart into a campaign for Obama? It's hard to envision after all the Clintons have done to (try and) derail him.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but I can't see it happening and people believing her intent is sincere.
