The conversation: Never say die
Lanny J. Davis, a friend of 39 years who makes frequent TV and blog appearances on her behalf, tells us he plans to start hitting a “can’t resist” theme.
As in, “Four Things Obama Campaign Couldn't Resist Doing To Anger Clinton Supporters He Needs In General Election If -- If -- He Is Nominee”:
“1.Couldn't resist waiting one day after Sen. Clinton won West Virginia by 41 points to announce John Edwards’ endorsement.
“2. Couldn't resist waiting to clinch majority of all delegates (not just pledged) to do victory lap speech in Iowa the night Hillary won Kentucky by 36 points.
“3. Couldn't resist waiting to clinch majority to announce Jim Johnson as VP search committee head...
“4. Couldn't resist listing Bill Richardson as under consideration for veep -- the one Red Flag name that infuriates even moderate Clinton supporters..."
http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0508/The_conversation_Never_say_die_.htmlHere however in an exclusive, I have uncovered the rest of the list:
5. Couldn't resist accepting invitation to give keynote address at 2004 DNC convention. Who does he think he is? Showing off his oratorical ability to a national audience, while Hillary only got to introduce her husband. If SHE would have gotten a chance to deliver the speech Obama wrote in prime time, she would have been the toast of the town and Obama would still be a nobody.
6. Couldn't resist opposing war in Iraq although Hillary voted to authorize the war, creating differentiation between him and Hillary on a key issue. If he ABSOLUTELY HAD to oppose the war, after him and Hillary started running he should have given a major speech announcing how he had made a mistake opposing the war while Hillary supported it, and if he could do it over would have supported the war.
7. Couldn't resist building up organization across the country in 2007 to win delegate race while the Hillary campaign spent the year writing 500 page memo's about her inevitability. If the Obama campaign spent 2007 writing memo's about Hillary's inevitability instead of devising a strategy to win delegates, we never would have had this mess.
8. Couldn't resist not dropping out of the race after winning Iowa. I mean, OK he proved his point. If he would have just ended his campaign there and went out magnanimously on a high note everyone would have been happy.
This is all for now, I will see if I can uncover more...
