Clinton: Reports of veep talks ’flatly untrue’
By Associated Press
Friday, May 23, 2008 - Updated 22m ago

SIOUX FALLS, S.D - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton says her campaign has had no discussions with Barack Obama aides about her possibly becoming his vice presidential pick.

Clinton calls such reports "flatly untrue," in an interview today with the Sioux Falls Argus Leader editorial board, adding that she is not planning any such discussions.

Asked if her campaign had any discussions with the Obama campaign about her possibly bowing out in exchange for the vice president slot, Clinton said: "It is flatly untrue and it is not anything I’m entertaining. It is nothing I have planned and it is nothing I am prepared to engage in. I am still vigorously campaigning."

5. LOL, from you that's a riot. You are tireless in your efforts to make
stuff up and spread bullshit. Obama's campaign also denied there had been talks.

6. Funny - I read the reports are coming from her camp.
And Axelrod said it's 100% untrue. That there are no talks whatsoever, taking place.

2. What's your take on it, Steph? Did they (HRC Camp) ask and get a resounding NO?
Edited on Fri May-23-08 02:46 PM by havocmom
I no longer have ANY ability to believe what HRC says herself.

Edited for clarity

14. Good news....
if anyone can believe one word out of her mouth.

If on the very rare occasion she is telling the truth she can go back to being a Senator and authorizing wars, sending jobs overseas, hiring scabs, hanging out with Neo-cons...the things she does the best.

Thats my opinion.

4. More amazingly
She is blaming Obama for this talk, even though the original CNN report is comprised completely of Hillary sources.

Late Update: It should be pointed out that the CNN story actually is explicitly sourced to people in Clinton's inner circle. What's more, Hillary's top finance chair today pushed the idea of her as veep.

8. So...bottom line...SHE GOT TURNED DOWN! Now it never happened.
Guys...It's Hillary talking here...she only presents things in the best light for herself.

Go figure!

11. Yep, makes me think
She was turned down, and now has come up with this story it was "all" from Obama's camp, and that she wasn't trying to get the VP nod. Of course from what I heard Bill is telling everyone she "deserves" the VP slot!

9. Isn't this what they refer to as 'triangulation?'
Classic. Get on both sides of an issue, then deny it's happening while getting the idea into people's heads.

Either that, or that campaign is way off-message...

13. Try this one:
http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/

"Here's how CNN describes it now:

Several close friends and supporters of Hillary Clinton tell CNN they are pushing for a "graceful exit strategy" that would allow the Clinton and Obama camps to come together, and for the New York senator to save face should she fail to become the nominee. The discussions are not taking place between the campaigns, but rather among informal campaign advisers on both sides who are trying to actively influence and shape the debate as the competition nears a close June 3."

16. This is classic Hillary subterfuge and lying.
First she puts the story out, then when it gets slapped down, she claims it didn't come from her camp.

She's a lying machine.
