Goddamit, maybe Hillary's right about MI & FL.
Just possibly technically correct in some finely parsed, weasel-worded sort of way, like Bill was "right" when he said he didn't "have sex with that woman," and when he got into excruciatingly twisted logic about the meaning of "is." Yes, Hillary MAY have some grounds for her position if you are willing to follow her through a maze of Wonderland reasoning as she plays literal-minded word games just like Bill did a decade and more ago. That seems to be a very Clintonesque, shyster-lawyerly thing to do. And then as now, people don't really buy it. By any reasonable standard, Bill did indeed "have sex with that woman." And Hillary DID contravene at least the spirit of the rules by being on the Michigan ballot. And they both have tin ears about how their conniving little rationalizations play with the public. At least with the part of the public that's actually listening.

I'm getting really damned sick of listening to these people and their various apologists on this board and elsewhere. Hillary's campaign is a vegetable. Why can't she do the merciful thing and take it off life support?

2. LOL! It's how many angels can dance on the head of a pin, Billary style.
I agree, it's not persuasive enough and it's VERY tiresome. I was ready to accept either Obama or Clinton a couple of months ago, once my fave candidate had dropped out. Either would've been okay with me—neither terrifically wonderful, neither horrible-terrible. But events have transpired, and Hillary has not closed the gap, much less opening up any decisive gap to be in the lead. All her But-But-But arguments are now just annoying.

4. The rule was against campaigning - Hillary did not campaign
If you are looking for a "spirit of the rules" which was broken, see Obama's national campaign ad that ran just prior to the Fla. primary - this DID violate the pledge.

b. A presidential candidate who campaigns in a state where the state party is in violation of the timing provisions of these rules, or where a primary or caucus is set by a state’s government on a date that violates the timing provisions of these rules, may not receive pledged delegates or delegate votes from that state. Candidates may, however, campaign in such a state after the primary or caucus that violates these rules. “Campaigning” for purposes of this section includes, but is not limited to, purchasing print, internet, or electronic advertising that reaches a significant percentage of the voters in the aforementioned state; hiring campaign workers; opening an office; making public appearances; holding news conferences; coordinating volunteer activities; sending mail, other than fundraising requests that are also sent to potential donors in other states; using paid or volunteer phoners or automated calls to contact voters; sending emails or establishing a website specific to that state; holding events to which Democratic voters are invited; attending events sponsored by state or local Democratic organizations; or paying for campaign materials to be used in such a state. The Rules and Bylaws Committee will determine whether candidate activities are covered by this section.

Obama made a political calculation and snubbed the voters of Michigan - there is no other justification for taking his name off the ballot.

5. OMG ... Hillary Clinton's Campaign as Terry Schiavo
Edited on Fri May-23-08 01:58 PM by NewHampshireDem
Okay, I know that isn't funny, but I never until this moment made the connection between the two spectacles: the crying and wailing, the refusal to accept the facts, the name calling ... wow, deja vu all over again. :puke:

6. I prefer to see her as a troll, not a vegetable.
She serves no purpose except to disrupt a community that should be focused on other things.

7. I didn't call HER a vegetable. I said that of her campaign. And you're
right. She's a troll doing CPR on a cucumber. I wish I hadn't thought of that image. I wish I weren't having to fight so hard to suppress the obvious next line.
