Her quote to the editorial board is beyond disgusting, it is as if she is rooting for something bad, possibly assassination, to happen to him. I'm so sick of her, its just fucking disgusting.

HILLARY RAISES ASSASSINATION ISSUE
DEFENDS LONG-RUNNING CAMPAIGN
By Geoff Earle

May 23, 2008 --

Hillary Clinton today brought up the assassination of Sen. Robert Kennedy while defending her decision to stay in the race against Barack Obama.

"My husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. I don't understand it," she said, dismissing calls to drop out.

NOTE TO HILLARY: If, heaven forbid, something happens to Obama I'm sure you will be considered to replace him on the ticket, but please don't root for it.

However, the evidence is mounting...SHE IS THIS STUPID.

I will never understand why she did/said some of this stuff. Some of her latest moves simply defy logic!

She doesn't have anywhere near the full package necessary to be a great political leader. More like a political consultant, like Mark Penn or Mary Matalin. She acts the part but doesn't really have the ability.

And the fact that you think that it is, makes your stance sickening.

Imagine the rolls reversed.. Obama won't drop out, and says that he's staying in the race because Hillary could be assasinated. Somehow I have a feeling you'd be the first fucker screaming on this site.

The point was that RFK's CAMPAIGN was VITAL AND ONGOING.....in JUNE!! He was STILL A CONTENDER....in JUNE!!!!!

Yet all the "It's OOOOOOOOVER!!!!" bastards are hyperanxious to shut this shit down IN MAY!! IN APRIL!!! IN MARCH!!!

That's the point.

But take your bloody hands and wave them around. Along with POST headlines that DELIBERATELY misstate the essential feature of her point...that his campaign was continuing well into .... JUNE.

55. Certainly. If you'd take off those Hyper Biased glasses you would see it WITHOUT my having to spell
it out for you in DUHHHH-simple terms. It's OBVIOUS, if you just quit with the "ALL ABOUT MEEE!" attitude on behalf of your candidate.

The Senator from New York was comparing herself to another Senator from New York, whose campaign went on through JUNE. Whose campaign would have continued had it not been interrupted--maybe all the way to the convention.

Why are YOU making it all about Obama, when it wasn't about him? Or is your gender bias so profound that you think a woman Senator can't compare her campaign to that of a male Senator FROM HER SAME FUCKING STATE, that occurred in relatively recent American history?

Your team is the bunch saying "She's trying to shoot him!" when the reference was about a NY Senator/Presidential candidate "campaigning on" late into the season--in JUNE.

See, THAT's why it was relevant. A NY Senator, ANOTHER NY Senator, running for President, is STILL CAMPAIGNING IN JUNE.

Her point was that RFK would have GONE ON LONGER STILL (like she intends to) had he not been stopped.

But no....Team Obama has to wind up the whiners and claim it's all about THEM. It's NOT.

Because they've got a bad case of narcissism going, and a hefty dose of Victimitis on the side.

So see, if Team Clinton were taking your "auto-offense" all the way to the limit, it's HRC who needs a good vest and a very tall security detail around her--but no, that would ruin the fictional offense you've created.

Your team needs to cut the crap. That sort of accusation is over the top, it's a deliberate misconstruction, and using the fucking POST headline, the same paper you won't give the time of day to when it doesn't suit your purposes, like it's a Bible verse is especially cheesy.

114. JUNE....so what?
Edited on Sat May-24-08 02:12 PM by SOS
1984 - Mondale in July
1980 - Carter in August
1976 - Ford in August
1972 - McGovern in June
1968 - Humphrey in August
1960 - Kennedy in July

Clinton could have used any of these examples to make her point.
But she didn't.
The 1992 example is technically true, but irrelevant to the point she's allegedly making.
Bill Clinton had the nomination wrapped up in April 1992 after the NY primary.

Many nominating processes have gone to June, July and August.
Why bring up RFK (and only RFK) at all?

(note: all but Kennedy in 1960 lost. JFK won by 0.2%. Going to August is, historically, a great way to lose in November)

31. OK, no drama. She was just being tacky. REALLY tacky. But why the need to use that example?
Bringing up a campaign from 40 years ago—when campaign rules were different anyway, when primaries weren't scheduled so early anyway—isn't the best way to make a point about sticking with one's own campaign...UNLESS the point of that example was the possibility of a candidate being assassinated. I think we're in jump-the-shark territory here. You mean your stomach didn't turn just a little at what she said?

56. See post fifty five, directly above your post. It isn't ABOUT Obama.
It's about two New York Senators, running for President.

And their campaigns continuing into JUNE.

It has NOTHING to do with your guy.

However, the gender bias does show--how DARE "Clinton" compare herself to a MALE like RFK!!

Even though RFK's KIDS, to include his namesake, support her.

Heck, Obama got baby brother TED, ergo, OBAMA MUST be "The Kennedy." Hell, "the GIRL" can't be "The Kennedy." Naaaaaah!!!

That's how the minds of "Team Obama" are working, aided by the sleazeball wingnuts at the rightwing Post, when they listen to what Clinton said--and that's pretty damned interesting. And not in a good way, either.

73. Your problem is you need to see nefarious reasons why people find her comparison odious.
I've been on the receiving end of gender bias for forty years. It's plentiful enough without having to see it when it isn't there. You, with all your multiple exclamation points and escalating insults, are the one who should ease back on the drama. Perhaps at other times you've been proud of Clinton for playing tough, because politics is a rough game and she shows she can play with the big boys? Well, in this case she was crude about it. With talk of assassination already in the air, she hit a terribly discordant note. It was not a good thing to say. No matter how many ways you try to justify it.

Obama supporters. All a person has to be is human, to feel a little repulsed that a candidate for high office—any candidate, regardless of gender/color/political persuasion—would so casually bring up the concept of assassination. I see that RFK Junior has came out in her defense. I doubt that he agrees with you in terms of your reasons.

84. Well, it could be that they are historically ignorant. Because you'd HAVE to be completely clueless
if you remembered sixty eight and took it any other way than the way she meant it.

I don't happen to think that it is a point of pride to be historically ignorant. And I really think people should read, learn, look, and understand before they get "repulsed" at a female senator from NY daring to compare herself to a MALE senator from NY who fought on until June and was prepping for a convention floor fight.

Anyone who takes it any other way than that is either ignorant of history, or believes that a woman can't compare herself to a man, or thinks that only "Obama" owns the right to be compared to Kennedys.

And that's pretty repulsive, indeed.

But hey--RFK Jr. gets it. And sorry, he is a STAUNCH supporter of hers--he's saying you are WRONG to take offense.

He agrees with me. So does anyone who was watching TV the night RFK won CA.

108. Yeah. Facts are pesky things. "Believe" is so much less stressful.
It may be possible to MISREMEMBER sixty eight and take it differently--rabid fan or not.

But anyone who remembers that contest remembers that RFK was prepping for a fight at the convention, and a lot of his supporters, like me, were hoping like hell he'd pull it off. The path was NOT assured.

So, stick your insulting needles wheresoever you'd like. I really don't insult people, I speak plainly, and I really don't care about your "weird grooves" either.

117. It is not about "two NY Senators"
It is about nominating processes that went into the summer.
There are plenty of examples.
Yet Clinton brings up only 1992 and RFK.
In 1992 Bill had the nomination in April after NY, so the California in June reference is a technicality.
She doesn't mention 1960, 1972, 1976 (Rep), 1980 or 1984, all of which went to June, July or August.

Which leaves us with the assasination of RFK.

Doesn't she have some research interns available to check these historical facts?
And why has she mentioned RFK four times since March, but never Carter/Kennedy of 1980, which went to the August convention?
And why would Clinton compare herself to a man who was shot to death, in the middle of a Presidential campaign, 40 years ago?

58. See post fifty five. That candidacy didn't stop because RFK got tired.
The comparison she was making was between two NEW YORK SENATORS.

RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

Campaigning on, into JUNE.

Your guy is NOT part of that comparison. He's not FROM New York. He isn't the guy dealing with the uphill battle in the contest. Keep in mind RFK was the underdog initially. He was the "less likely" guy, who gained momentum as the contest proceeded. In fact, RFK was LATE to the party--he didn't even jump into the campaign until after NH.

Of course, someone with a sexist bias would not be able to UNDERSTAND how a FEMALE could under any circumstances compare herself to a MALE.

Why, ONLY OBAMA gets to be compared to KENNEDY MEN!! It's a TEAM O rule!!!!

Your bias is showing. In a big way, too.

If it was "Freudian" as you say--you've got some "Freud" of your own to deal with. You were unable to see what she was saying, because the "little woman" couldn't possibly campaign on like RFK did, into June.

And as for HRC, if she was being "Freudian"--since she was comparing HERSELF to RFK, then she needs a really good vest and a bigger detail.

Not your guy. Because it WAS NOT ABOUT HIM.

Pack up that faux outrage, sweep up that sexism, and take it away.

No worries. When Obama is formally declared the nominee and goes on to the win the White House, the vermin defending her cheese will be free to slither back under the rocks.

IMO, Hillary's bizarre references to assassinatons of political leaders is an indication that the SS needs to closely monitor her AND beef up Obama's SS security.

She has the right to free speech, but with rights come respnsibilities. She is responsible for increasing the likelihood of violence towards Obama, and she needs to be monitored because clearly she is mentally unstable, endorsing violence, and she has a lot to gain from Obama's death.

59. Yes, I really wish all these "enthusiasts" WOULD make that call!
What kills me (pardon the pun) is that these idiots cannot see that HRC was comparing HERSELF to her fellow New York Senator and Presidential candidate. Who, like her, fought on into JUNE for the nomination.

Their sexist bias is showing.

Why, a woman can't compare herself to a KENNEDY!! Even though they both represented the same state and are running for President.

Only OBAMA can do that! Because...uh, uh, he's uh...like JFK!! BELIEVE, BELIEVE!!!

Idiots. Sexist idiots, too. They simply refused to see what she was saying, because their PREJUDICE prevented it.

66. Who will rid me of this meddlesome priest?
Whatever King Henry said, it was interpreted as a royal command, and four knights, Reginald Fitzurse, Hugh de Moreville, William de Tracy, Richard Brito, set out to consult the Archbishop of Canterbury. On December 29, 1170 they arrived at Canterbury. According to accounts left by the monk Gervase of Canterbury and eyewitness Edward Grim, they placed their weapons under a sycamore tree outside the cathedral and hid their mail armour under cloaks before entering to challenge Becket.<4> The knights informed Becket he was to go to Winchester to give an account of his actions, but Becket refused. It was not until Becket refused their demands to submit to the king's will that they retrieved their weapons and rushed back inside for the killing.<4> Becket, meanwhile, proceeded to the main hall for vespers. The four knights, carrying naked swords, caught up with him in a spot near a door to the monastic cloister, the stairs into the crypt, and the stairs leading up into the quire of the cathedral, where the monks were chanting vespers. Several contemporary accounts of what happened next exist; of particular note is that of Edward Grim, who was himself wounded in the attack.
The burial of Becket
The burial of Becket

This is part of the written account from Edward Grim:

...The wicked knight leapt suddenly upon him, cutting off the top of the crown which the unction of sacred chrism had dedicated to God. Next he received a second blow on the head, but still he stood firm and immovable. At the third blow he fell on his knees and elbows, offering himself a living sacrifice, and saying in a low voice, 'For the name of Jesus and the protection of the Church, I am ready to embrace death.' But the third knight inflicted a terrible wound as he lay prostrate. By this stroke, the crown of his head was separated from the head in such a way that the blood white with the brain, and the brain no less red from the blood, dyed the floor of the cathedral. The same clerk who had entered with the knights placed his foot on the neck of the holy priest and precious martyr, and, horrible to relate, scattered the brains and blood about the pavements, crying to the others, 'Let us away, knights; this fellow will arise no more.'

that is so far from "presidential"--it would be funny if it weren't so tragic. one "president" who makes one "gaffe" after another is one too many. just slink away, Hillary--any "graceful exit" has been blown. 78. You are completely correct
I had the same exact thought. And she can't undo what she said even with apologies.

She knows damn well from her 35 years of experience including 8 in the White House that she shouldn't say anything of this sort - not once and not three times. She also knows damn well how to hold her tongue and make sure she says what she should not what she shouldn't.

I have no idea why she said this, although there are a number of possibilities. It was obviously to obtain some tactical advantage, but we don't know which one.

It's not, as she suggested, her great concern over Teddy Kennedy. She hates Teddy's guts now after he was a Judas and endorsed Obama.
