I've said for MONTHS that it is SICK the way some of you talk about it.
He's fine!! He will CONTINUE to be fine.

Stop borrowing trouble. It's ridiculous.
Not to mention rude as hell. He isn't in danger.
He's not an idiot and he has a top notch security team.

People who continuously pump this meme out are SICK.

His family doesn't need to hear this shit on a loop.

There is a risk for ANYONE running for office.
That you insist on spouting off on how worried YOU are and how nervous it makes YOU is irrelevant.

HE IS FINE.
He will continue to BE FINE. If he is elected, HE WILL BE FINE!!!

Think positive.

This nervous Nelly hand wringing has GOT to stop.

4. Seriously, read some of the threads here.
It's ALARMING to see how much negative energy people here are willing to put in to that scenario.

Senator Obama IS NOT STUPID. He knows that there is a risk, as there is with ANY PERSON running for office.
STOP trying to make it a race issue. It's sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But you can't hand wring 24/7. It's just not right.

You have no comprehension of the Kennedy, King, Kennedy assassinations. Maybe you need to SHUT UP and pay attention. Hillary is calling out the crazies. If something happens to Obama it is totally BLOOD on her hands!

My advice--don't be associated with this! Unfortunately by your current post you are...so you're going to have to figure out how to dis-associate yourself from a post..,Good luck!

is it what she meant.

Extrapolating what she said out this far is a reach. She has no Obama blood on her hands, and she wont. It isn't a call to assassinate the man. Stop trying so hard to make everything she says evil. Some of the stuff she ACTUALLY says should be enough for you guys, instead of trying to make a mountain out of a mole hill.

She has always exhibited a profound lack of judgment, from Iraq to Kyl/Lieberman...to the way she has run her campaign, to her choice of advisers, to the words she has chosen...

This is the reason why I have been unable to support her and feel that she should not, under any circumstances, be on the ticket as VP

Some of us know the real dangers being the first serious black candidate for president, and some of us choose to be blind to those threats, and be condescending toward his supporters because you don't want to face it.

25. You do realize that many blacks are afraid of this?
From February:

For many black Americans, it's a conversation they find hard to avoid, revisiting old fears in the light of bright new hopes.

They watch with wonder as Barack Obama moves ever closer to becoming America's first black president. And they ask themselves, their family, their friends: Is he at risk? Will he be safe?

There is, of course, no sure answer. But interviews with blacks across the country, prominent and otherwise, suggest that lingering worries are outweighed by enthusiasm and determination.

"You can't have lived through the civil rights movement and know something about the history of African-Americans in this country and not be a little concerned," said Edna Medford, a history professor at Washington's Howard University.

http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8UVHBRO2&show_article=1

And they and we have every reason to be nervous! Not hand-wringing but we're not pollyannish either. Just read some of the comments from voters in PA, WV, OH, KY, etc. recently and you'd understand. Racism is still a problem in this country.

at least in the United States is not in the same league with racism at least as far of the assassination of political figures!

And I'm not saying Hillary would not be a target of some sicko. Hillary of all people having lived in the security bubble and probably having had to listen to some scary Secret Service briefings on the protection of Bill, herself, even Chelsea should've had more sensitivity on mentioning the assassination of a political figure.

Clinton campaign on ropes
BY JOHN GUERRIERO

Published: May 08. 2008 6:00AM
Murray, who has supported Bill and Hillary Clinton since 1991, said these are tough times for people like him who are in the Clinton camp but want to unify the party.

"The sense is, absent some catastrophic event that would take place in this campaign, it's going to be very difficult to see a path to victory for Hillary given what happened" Tuesday, Murray said.

Analysis: Could Clinton land the VP nomination?

Several Clinton associates say there is still a ray of hope among some in her campaign: that a "catastrophic" revelation about Obama might make it possible for her to win the presidential nomination.
But barring that, Hillary and Bill Clinton recognize that her candidacy is being abandoned and rejected by superdelegates whom she once expected to win over and that, even if she were to win the popular vote in combined primary states, she will almost certainly be denied the nomination.

CBSNews.com Reports: N.Y. Senator Now Faces Nearly Impossible Odds To Capturing Democratic Nomination

May 7, 2008

Clinton's Path To Victory Slipping Away
There is one scenario which does work for Clinton and that’s a massive movement of superdelegates leaving Obama and supporting her. The party leaders could do that, but it would take some unforeseen development in the race between now and the convention for them to do so. Obama, in some way, would have to be rendered so unelectable that the party rejects him at the convention. That’s not much to hang a hat on but it’s starting to look like her best option.

And even that might not be a viable option, said Joe Trippi. “Even if the catastrophic thing existed or happened, if she were perceived to have caused it, I think it would end her campaign too,” Trippi said. I don’t think there’s any way now for her to gain the nomination. She’s at the point now where if she tries to make a case against Obama, it will actually speed up superdelegates joining his cause just to shut the campaign down.”

But Trippi notes that the Obama campaign and Democratic leaders are still likely to give Clinton the room she needs to go forward on her own terms, provided that she does so in a positive manner. “I think there’s lots of tolerance for her going on, running the table into the convention and having a presence there,” he said. “But if she actually tries to compete in the trenches for the nomination in a way that looks like it’s damaging the nominee … I don’t think there will be any tolerance for that at all.”

Interview with Clinton: One Day at a Time
Thursday, Mar. 06, 2008

On the day after her Ohio and Texas victories, TIME managing editor Rick Stengel caught up with Hillary Clinton to talk about the challenges ahead. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

One group that probably ultimately wouldn't want it to go on too long is the Democratic Party itself. Can you envision a point at which — if the race stays this close — and with the difficulties that everyone has analyzed in accumulating enough delegates to get any distance ahead where party elders would step in and say "Senators Clinton and Obama, this is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall. We need to figure this out."

No I really can't. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June, also in California. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual. We will see how it unfolds as we go forward over the next three to four months.

Anyone that is in a top spot that challenges the status quo-I worry about. Also, he has dark skin. There are plenty in this country that would use that as an excuse. I actually fear the race thing most-not that he challenges the status quo-I wish he was that kind of leader but he's the best we've got and he's doing great so far.
