I'm going to go out on a limb here and give Hillary the benefit of the doubt.
God knows, I am hardly her biggest fan and wish she would have had the decency to withdraw from this race a while back.

That being said, in all fairness, although she annoys me to no end, I really don't think that she was being malicious.

I think she was just talking and she had one of those stupid moments that people have.

I just don't see any point in piling on her.

1. That was my initial reaction, too....
but KO showed that she said something similar at least 4 other times.

Makes you wonder.... It was more than fatigue, IMO. This is something she had been considering for some time.

2. Even if you accept all that, just put your self in Ted Kennedy's shoes right now

This was a bad gaffe on several levels

3. It wasn't the RFK comment that'll do her in, any more than that last straw broke the camel
She's had a hard couple of months. We all have. She's still a great senator. It's sad that simple missteps like this gaffe determine the choices we make in our republic.

I promise you, in the next few months and few years you will, again and again, find moments to be proud of her.

8. yep...two choices,
it was either intentional, which would make her unfit to lead the country, or it was really, really stupid and a lapse of judgement that would also make her unfit to lead the country....

11. I certainly don't want her as our candidate.
But this is a bad note to end this race on and I don't want to end with someone being humiliated into dropping out.

14. Her megalomania overcame her integrity and intelligence.
That is how I see it.

5. I don't think she wants him to be shot either--no one should think that.
But she is an idiot for saying this and an even bigger idiot for her non-apology.

She raised the terrifying specter of assassination in an election that's so racially- and gender-charged that you can smell the tension. She should know better--and she didn't.

12. You are kind. However...
when she made her sniper fire speech on March 17th (in the morning), fatigue was the excuse used by Bill Clinton to explain it away a few weeks later (though he said 11pm). And she spent a lot of money and energy to assure is that if something Important happened anywhere in the world while it was 3am here, she'd be up and ready to deal with it.

Yes, campaigning is enormously hard and difficult...but I think that's our test to find out if someone has what it takes, or not. I guess we found out.

13. Her choice of words are not to be forgiven
whether intentional or not. There are many campaigns she could have referenced in her comments to support her continuation in the compaign. I thought it was fine that she did continue, until I heard her say "June" and "assassination" in the same statement.

16. I agree with both Axelrod and Olbermann on this one.
It's unforgivable, and indefensible. But, I don't think it was purposeful. Perhaps Freudian.

If it was purposeful, she has to be more stupid than Bush, and I don't think anyone is that damned stupid.

17. NOT the first time she said it
Hillary's Bizarre RFK Comment

Though she has now apologized for that very strange and tasteless comment to the Argus-Leader, this was not the first time she's said it. This from her interview with TIME Managing Editor Richard Stengel, published March 6:

TIME: Can you envision a point at which--if the race stays this close--Democratic Party elders would step in and say, "This is now hurting the party and whoever will be the nominee in the fall"?

CLINTON: No, I really can't. I think people have short memories. Primary contests used to last a lot longer. We all remember the great tragedy of Bobby Kennedy being assassinated in June in L.A. My husband didn't wrap up the nomination in 1992 until June. Having a primary contest go through June is nothing particularly unusual.

Her excuse now is that the Kennedys have been "much on my mind these days" with the illness of Senator Edward Kennedy, but that doesn't explain what brought it to mind more than two months ago.

18. Like "bitter"?
Quaffing brews and hunting polar bears with bazookas? Yammering about Elitists who won't have much truck with us plain folks?

She's right about one thing. Anything can happen to turn the course of an election. Like her jamming two feet up to the knees into her mouth.

21. I can live with embarrassment. I can't live clinging to anger.
It's over. We all know it.

It's a shitty way to end this overly long primary.

I am very happy Obama is our nominee (presumptive or otherwise), but I can't find it in myself to want any of our candidates to end on a note like that.
