It's time for party leaders to politely usher Hillary out the door
I don't care if it is behind the scenes.

Or maybe it will take a public statement from a high ranking Dem like Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, or Al gore.

Sadly, Hillary revealed today not what I think was malicious intent, but reckless and irrational thinking as a result of utter exhaustion. In her campaign's fragile state, I don't think she would ever intentionally suggest willfull harm to Obama. That would be political suicide.

I do think she had a Freudian slip of sorts, and her assassination comment revealed something she never intended to so obviously surface. That she is desperate and the only path to a nomination is some bizarre or unforeseen calamity. One can't control their dreams and she might as well dreamed it. In fact, beyond the reference to Robert Kennedy - her entire statement was rambling and disjointed.

It is time for a party leader to have the guts to tell this exhausted marathon runner that the race is over. She is stumbling badly and nobody wants to see her humiliate herself any further. She deserves to exit with what ever dignity she can salvage intact.

We need to stop railing and raging on Hillary. We would be far better served to spend that energy on McCain. Sadly and until she makes her exit official, the drumbeat and anger toward her will only deepen.

1. I disagree
I don't think they need to be polite.

2. Obama will be our nominee, why tar and feather Hillary...
...and potentially alienate her supporters that like it or not, Obama needs to win the GE.

Believe me, I'm no fan of Hillary - but I also don't think a lynch mob mentality does a damn thing to build party unity.

She's lost and she deserves to leave with respect.

Soon enough, we will follow Obama's lead and focus on beating McCain.

3. If she didn't alienate her own supporters with this, then let them go.

4. If she has any sense of self preservation, she will bow out. We'll see.
