Obama: Rush Limbaugh, Lou Dobbs Responsible For Rise In Hate Crimes Against Hispanics
Speaking truth to Power Lou BS Dobbs calls himself a independent but he bashes Democrats,Obama and Hispanics relentlessly. During his show it's always emails from Democrats that have decided to become Independents I haven't seen any emails from Repubs deciding to become Independent. Implying that the Democratic party is so bad we now see the light because of you Lou. Same BS that Oreily spreads.

At a fundraiser in Florida Thursday night, Barack Obama accused anti-immigrant crusaders Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh of "ginning things up" to such an extent that there was a rise in hate crimes against Hispanics last year.

"A certain segment has basically been feeding a kind of xenophobia. There's a reason why hate crimes against Hispanic people doubled last year," Obama said. "If you have people like Lou Dobbs and Rush Limbaugh ginning things up, it's not surprising that would happen."

Politico's Jonathan Martin writes that Limbaugh addressed Obama's remarks on his radio show today and said that the remarks hurt his feelings.

"I actually don't believe this. Barack Obama, in my own state, raising money for his presidential campaign called me xenophobic at a fundraiser," Limbaugh said. "I thought this guy was the unity candidate? Calling me a Xenophobe? Responsible for hate crimes? My feelings are hurt here."

Earlier this year, promoting his book "His Panic: Why Americans Fear Hispanics in the U.S.," Geraldo Rivera called Dobbs a "hate-monger" and said "I would not shake his hand because this is a man that's done more damage to the cause of sensible, comprehensive reform than anyone with a microphone."

1. I agree with Obama.
It is time to speak out against these slimy people. It is time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine, too.

Someone should ask him if he will do that.

2. Moi? Xenophobic? The champion of the "enraged white middle-class men"....
...and the probable reason why these white middle class men are so enraged?

Surely you JEST, sir!

I'm glad Obama takes a hard line with these rabble-rousers.

3. The Lil Bush and Turd Blossom years have undercover maliciously fed
these big mouth blowhards in order to divide and conquer and it is doing just that. I wonder, since I've shut the tee-vee off, does Dobbs talk about the shortage now of crop workers...or are Americans filling in to take the slave labor jobs I remember Dobbs railing about?

19. That fucking bastard has HUGH billboards all over New Orleans,
as if to rub salt in the wound. He took over the oldest Rock FM station in the nation WRNO 99.5 and turned it into a 24/7 repuke hatefest, also killing Air America. All you will hear is people like Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, telling us in New Orleans were a bunch of "welfare queens", "crackwhores" "Magic Negroes."

Those billboards should be removed.

6. He's right. And when people like Donnie McClurkin declare that gays want to kill the children,
and that we are possessed by Satan and want to destroy the family, that also breeds hate crimes.

who IS mcclurkin, in the grand scheme of things? does he have a daily cable news show on cnn?

i'm just trying to see what donnie has to do with lou dobbs-

is he germane to this particular argument? or is this a distraction?

14. Thanks for giving me permission to live my life.
Here I was, lying awake at nights wondering if I met your approval. You have taken an enormous load off me.

And my point, of course, was that Obama cannot really complain too much about other people giving a platform to those who engage in hate speech while sponsoring the likes of this.

20. you're welcome
it was nothing, really-

so what's the science on this clip? was this an obama rally or someshit?

are u mad at obama because donnie's been brainwashed? because he's still gay. i'm really trying to understand this particular issue-
who's the villain here, donnie or barack?

or

we can go tit for tat with the sarcasm

i propose: not this time

it's up to u tho

9.  I DO in fact admit that McClurkin was an untypical mistake by Obama...
...but if you really think Donnie McClurkin's national influence is comparable to Rush Limbaugh's....well...it's not even close.

11. I agree -- with reservations.
Edited on Sat May-24-08 12:06 AM by QC
McClurkin himself might not be a household name, but the so-called "ex-gay movement" has a lot of money and pull behind it, and it does real damage to real people.

It still hurts to know that a Democrat was willing to give those people a platform in order to pick up a few votes. I expect that from Republicans, but not from my own party.

If he falls short of my expectations, than so be it.
