Obama and his supporters take talking points from Drudge

So where do Obama and Co. and the MSM get their talking points from these days? As incredible as it seems, “the boyz” are following marching orders from none other than one of their former arch-enemies, Drudge. I guess he’s their new BFF since he hates Hillary as much as they do. Fox news reports that the latest WWTSBQ frenzy started with a NY Post story that was spread through the ranks of the press corps by Drudge, playing up the “Hillary wants him dead” meme. This article was appropriately titled, “Hillary brings up Kennedy Assassination, Press Freaks Out”. http://riverdaughter.wordpress.com/2008/05/24/obama-takes-his-talking-points-from-drudge/

BRANDON, SD - Another example of the power of the Drudge Report today, as a NY Post story pointing out that Clinton brought up the assassination of Robert F Kennedy in 1968 during an editorial board meeting sent reporters traveling with Clinton into a frenzy….Almost instantly, the Post story was circulated to the press corps via blackberry and Drudge, and reporters here at Clinton’s town hall meeting abandoned any pretense of listening to the event — flocking around the first Clinton flack they could find for a response to the quote.

Apparently it took the creative mind of Drudge to inspire the Obama campaign to tastelessly exploit the death of an American icon for political gain, in the very same week his sole surviving brother was diagnosed with a brain tumor… very classy. Now this is the kind of thing we expect from Drudge, but from a Democratic presidential candidate, and the left blogosphere? It appears that is the path they are choosing. But they still have some lessons to learn from the pros. See, this isn’t the first time Clinton has made this comparison, as the Fox article goes on to say:

But Clinton has made a similar “long primaries are fine” argument before — once with a more oblique reference to the Kennedy assassination. “If you look at successful presidential campaigns, my husband didn’t get the nomination until June of 1992. I remember, tragically, Senator Kennedy won California near the end of that process,” she said at a DC fundraiser on May 7th. “It has often gone on. And we have a lot to work out here. Because we have to figure out who would be the stronger candidate.”

Where was the outrage then? Where was “Special” K’s spittle ridden rant when she said it on May 7th? Obviously neither Olbermann, the Obama campaign, nor anyone at CNN, MSNBC, etc, was as creative as our friend Mr. Drudge. We all know that the MSM salivates at his every blackberry message, but Democrats? Obama has become just another cog in the right wing, bottom feeding, tabloid rumor-mill machine of which Drudge is commander-in-chief. I noticed that the Obama campaign started to back away from this story almost as soon as they started to push the “it has no place” message that they used in SC. I imagine someone in the Kennedy family told them to stop using RFK to score points and suppress votes. We know that telling Drudge “shame on you” is an exercise in futility. Well maybe some of the OFB still have some semblance of a conscience. If they do, this ones for them. Shame on you!!

6. Were you outraged that some Clinton supporters were making a big deal about
non-issues like bittergate, snubgate, sweetiegate and facescratchinggate? I saw a few Clinton supporters getting their talking points from Drudge too. What did you have to say about those non-issues?

13. Almost everyone thought these comments were inappropriate. She's made a lot of enemies.
Just because most of the rest of the world, including Drudge, realize it doesn't mean it's a RW talking point.

and to research their websites for issues and positions; too many years of media crap. I don't read drudge or whoever else...

I have been critical of Senator Clinton for her remarks, and my criticism relies upon nothing but my own impressions of her own spoken words.

15. Post hoc, ergo propter hoc
Ms. Browl (my better half), got home last night at 1:30 - she'd had a busy day at work, then met up with some friends for dinner and a drink. So aftere catching up with each other, she said 'what's the news' - she knows me well. So I said 'see your yourself', and played the unedited version of Hillary's interview. That was the same way I got it - believe it or not, many Obama supporters form their own opinions rather than waiting for TV or newspaper pundits to frame them for us.

I'll spare your sensitive ears the details of what she had to say, but I think you can probably guess. No media filters necessary, thank you.

18. Did the Obama campaign push this to the MSM?
Could be but I have not seen any evidence of that. When David Axelrod was on he dismissed it...any evidence that they pushed this story behind the scenes?

As well they should. Senator Clinton needs to get a grip on reality and do the right thing.

24. Drudge? No. But I did cruise over to Stormfront
They were as gobsmacked by her comments as we are. Of course, they think she is trying to incite a race war against whites, but they were shocked none the less.

Pity the His44 people and the Taylor Marsh crowd can't manage to feel disturbed about it.

31. You're still trying to help remove Hillary's foot from her mouth?
I don't buy the idea that she somehow wanted Obama knocked off but, in politics, perception is everything.

The best thing about her stepping in her own dogshit, is that it has probably put paid to her efforts to be either president or VP and, hopefully, ended her pandering-to-right political career.
