Can we have an award for best dramatic "I'm leaving DU" message?
Ya know..kind of like the daytime emmy awards. There are some that really remind me of Soap Operas....:D

3. Sometimes mocking serves no good purpose
...beyond some instant gratification. Sometimes it makes the real work harder.

7. If people want to leave just leave
Whats the point in announcing it, except to garner attention? If people want to leave because of serious issues they should be talking privately with the mods and admins, not posting flamebait in here. Mocking is perfectly appropriate with this egocentric behavior IMHO.

33. So I imagine you didn't really want any responses to this thread.
What is posting but a desire for attention?

34. I was trying for comic relief
I should have known..No comedy allowed.
I've gotten pissed off and left and never felt compelled to announce it.

What new indefensible position of Clinton's is our new "real work"?

15. The real work is electing a Democratic President in November
not scoring points against each other. Barack Obama knows that, thank God. I think he will make a great president if we can pull together enough to help him defeat McCain.

39. Real people do real work. And they do that work in many modes
including mocking and otherwise using humor to let off steam.

Myself, I'm not going to be suckered again by these calls for unity that last until the next time Clinton's missteps need defending and the rules change again.

As she herself says, it's early in the season yet. Or, that's what she should have said.

DU would control the world.

27. How many potentially satisfying "cathartic experiences" do you figure Obama has passed up by now?
The netroots is schizophrenic about the role they play in politics. Half the time, when we want to mobilize to defeat some bill in Congress, or when we decide to throw our full weight behind a candidate, we see ourselves as actual players, as having influence. The rest of the time, often when we are getting our jollies off making outrageous statements or pursuing our internal purges, we act like it doesn't really matter, we are just anonymous posters on an internet bulletin board. We may be anonymous posters on an internet bulleting board, with none of us individually having the influence of a Matt Drudge or Ariana Huffington, but the collective tone of what we write each day does get looked at, and it does matter.

Ever since I first became a supporter of a specific presidential candidate, back in 2003 with Wes Clark, I realized that I then became a part of his larger political team, a small part true, but a part nonetheless. As long as it did not involve me violating my own personal integrity or core values, I paid attention to the message he was trying to project to the electorate, and attempted myself to help further his effectiveness by helping him amplify it with my own behavior and writing.

I know that every winning candidate knows when to pull a punch, and knows when to act gracious toward his or her opponents. Sometimes it denies them a cathartic experience to do so, but it helps them to win the election.

I think thats a little uncalled for..BTW, I have spent my share of time defending HRC in here, see Skinner's thread, btw. Geezus fucking christ. Get a god damned sense of humor.
You are the FIRST person who has ever labelled me an Obamanoid. Did I comment on either candidate, no?

23. For the humor impaired (and there are many here)
This is supposed to be humorous, because I think the I'm leaving posts in ANY FORUM are hilarious. If you are that upset why not just leave? Announcing to the world is pretty egocentric and melodramatic and in the end is full of sound and fury that signifies nothing (to paraphrase Faulkner) and this post is not intended as a slam at either supporters.
For the record, I support Obama but if you look at my posts in GDP, they are pretty evenhanded and I have just as many defenses of HRC as praises of Obama.
Sheesh.
