Obama's pick for VP should be the most experienced, capable man for the job: Bill Clinton
Edited on Sat May-24-08 10:06 PM by Newly Ugly
Let's first tackle two questions that you may be asking yourself.

First, you might ask: "Doesn't the 12th ammendment disqualify Clinton for being vice-president, when it says, "no person constitutionally ineligible to the office of President shall be eligible to that of Vice-President."?

That makes sense, because there would be no point in having a VP who can't become president if anything happened.

But then came the 22nd ammendment, which set the rules for the number of terms a president could serve:

"No person shall be elected to the office of the President more than twice," the 22nd Amendment says.

The key word is "elected". If Clinton ran as VP, and he had to replace Obama, he would become presidnet without being "elected", which is the only word mentioned in the 22nd ammendment.

With that in mind, Clinton would not qualify as a person who is "constitutionally ineligible to the office of President", as specified in the 12th ammendment. He would therefore be eligible for the VP slot.

Of course, experts disagree, but it's definitely a case that would probably go to the Supreme Court.

The Washington Post investigated this dilemma in 2006 and concluded:

A subsequent sampling of opinion from professors of constitutional law, former White House lawyers and even a couple of federal judges reveals a simmering disagreement on whether a president who has already served two terms can be vice president.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/10/19/AR2006101901572.html

Factcheck.org also analyzed the situation and reached no conclusive answer:

Probably not, but it's an untested constitutional conundrum.

http://www.factcheck.org/askfactcheck/could_former_president_bill_clinton_be_vice.html

With this said, if we agree that Obama needs an experienced, strong leader who would help with the White working class, who would be better than the great president Clinton?

Obama is well versed on the Constitution, so I'm sure he could make a convincing argument for it.

11. Why in the world would he want to do that to himself?
His first stint in the Oval Office probably shortened his life by at least 10 years ... do you really want to work the poor man to death?

No, no, no.

We really don't need another Republican operative anywhere near the Oval Office.

And Bill was the best Republican President we've had since Eisenhower.

They wouldn't hear of such a thing and guaranteed they'd FIND a reason why...just like they found a ridiculous biased reason to "not count the votes" in 2000.

33. Actually, the Roberts court would probably offer a strategic counter-opinion
They would overturn the Felonious Florida Five decision of December 12,2000, invalidating Chimpy's term as pResident (if you can call it valid to begin with)which would in turn allow Chimp to walk into the Repuke convention and replace McLoon as the nominee.

Now THAT is frightening :scared:

34. Then if Hillary somehow stole the nomination,
The Clintons would yet again be pitted against the Bushes. An epic battle. One we shall, hopefully, never have to endure.
