I respect Hillary supporters
Edited on Sat May-24-08 10:34 PM by CreekDog
*who* will support the nominee and do not undermine the likely nominee to the detriment of our chances in the fall.

I promise to do the same.

I am an Obama supporter who will vote for the nominee this fall, whether that be Obama, Hillary, both or someone else because I will vote in a way that does the most to support my values and the most supportive thing for my values is to support a Democrat, no matter what.

The other reason I will support the nominee is that I have voted and I had my say in the primary process and it is a shared decision and there is a process in place to determine who gets it and gives everyone who played within the rules a say in that process.

If my choice is not the winner, I accept it because I don't alone get to decide who wins.

Also, I accept the winner of the nomination because I can't rightly expect people supporting other candidates in the primaries to support my choice without tacit agreement that I will support theirs if they should win, that is called being part of a team and as a team is the only way to defeat McCain and the Republicans.

The above is what I will do with respect to voting and supporting our candidates.

Regarding my own behavior, I pledge to:

Not condone or express racism or sexism or any discrimination based on innate characteristics that the person cannot control and thus should not be judged on. When I'm angry with a candidate, if I must call them a name, I will avoid sexist or racist names or names related to their person. I have tried to do that even in moments of anger. (I will make one exception to this rule and that is that I will make fun of Canadians in as amateurish a fashion as I can muster for two reasons: 1) The band Rush 2) because Canadians are better than us and I am jealous.)

For other advice, please consult the Ferengi.

6. Here is my reason for not supporting obama. Very damn simple
If obama believed any of what he is saying then why did he ever allow the racial divisiness his campaign launched against Hillary and Bill? Hell, why didn't he fire Jesse Jr. when he used the racial card against HRC? He and his campaign played the race card alright, then turned right around with a willing whoremedia and blamed the Clintons and that is fact. Well, the truth is and the fact is that obama can give one hell of a speech, but that is all he has done. He has an idea of what he wants to do but he never delivers fully his ideas so folks can understand just what the hell he will do. Obama doesn't live up to his words. As for me they were and still are empty bullshit. I can say I will not vote for McCain. Hell, who knows, maybe I’ll encourage Clinton supporters to consider a “write in” in November. Forget Obama! let’s stick with our candidate until the bitter end! Who knows?

Shalom
Ben David

14. Don't take it personally ...
... BenDavid never reads anyone's posts (other than his own.) If you browse through a few other threads tonight, you'll find exactly the same BenDavid reply, cut 'n pasted, over and over again - including threads in the Cooking & Baking Forum.

9. Obama
certainly launched a hell of an attack on Hillary and Bill. It was awful.:sarcasm:

Are you watching the same campaign I've been watching? Stick with her and then go ahead and vote for some write in candidate. That's the thing to do. McClinton will launch a nuclear attack on Iran and the world will be so much nicer.

13. Ben you just plagiarized a comment post from Marc Ambinder
from a poster named Ken on March 18th (it is very nearly verbatim) Holy Crap!

http://marcambinder.theatlantic.com/archives/2008/03/obamas_speech_the_text.php

"If Obama believed any of what he is saying then why did he ever allow the racial divisiness his campaign launched against Hillary and Bill Clinton?

Why didn't he fire Jesse Jackson Jr when he used the racial card against Hillary.

The fact is that Obama can give a good speach. But that is all he has done. He doesn't live up to his words. They are empty bullshit."

29. I am a Clinton supporter, but I am a team player.
We all have to vote for the nominee. In this case, being a team player isn't the only reason. There are larger reasons, such as Iraq and the Supreme Court. I dislike Obama and his behavior for many of the same reasons you do. I may dislike him even more than you, because as an active Democrat in his home state, I have seen him up close and personal.

But think about what you are saying. If the last eight years were a nightmare, a McCain Presidency could make the next four a true descent into hell.
