Hillary has a big decision to make: To accept the RBC decison- or not.
She's screwed if she agrees to the RBC decision. Screwed if she doesn't. Talk about being boxed into a corner. The RBC has almost certainly already made a decision that's not to Senator Clinton's liking. Anyone who believes that they'll deny Obama any delegates out of MI, is living in hillaryworld. And they will punish FL in some way, as well.

If Hillary refuses the RBC decision, the number needed for nomination remains at 2026, and Obama is now only about 50 delegates from that number. He'll pick up at least 30 pledged delegates from the last remaining 3 contests. That means he'll only need 20 or so SDs to clinch it.

If Hillary accepts the RBC decision, the number needed for nomination rises to an unknown number- but one that certainly won't be 2209. And Obama won't have any trouble reaching that either.

If Hillary fights the RBC decision, she'll alienate more completely SDs who want to win in November. She's alienate a substantial number of her own SDs. She'll further damage her reputation and credibility.

If Hillary accepts the RBC decision, see it as a honking big clue, that reality has registered with her. And expect her concession speech to be imminent.

1. Hillary should be planning a graceful exit.
I wonder if she has a dictionary and can look up the word graceful.

2. Up until recently, I thought Hillary would indeed make a graceful
exit. Now I'm not sure she can. But exit she will, the party just isn't going to tolerate her dragging this out until the convention.

3. I thought, pre-gaffe, that she would
appeal the RBC decision and drag this out to the convention. At this point, I think she'll accept the decision which will give her an 'easier' out (if there is such a thing). I think there's no 'graceful' way for her to exit now and with the RBC decision she can fall back on an explanation of 'I tried, fought my hardest, battled my heart out . . . '. My hope is then she WILL attempt to work with the Obama camp to bridge the gap.

4. And yet she is going nowhere.
She is waiting in the wings in the hopes that Obama stumbles or that her opposition research people can come up with that stumble.

6. Or the RFK scenario that she mentioned as reason for staying in the race

5. She has had the support to run through the last vote and the RBC
ruling.

She does not have the support to sue, or fight at the Convention. And, she knows it. Her final hope was a VP slot, and I think that has gone up in smoke, as well.

7. She is not going to accept it unless they give her 100% of the votes/delegates
She wants an excuse to go to the convention. That will be her excuse. Now she will say she is standing up for the people of Michigan and Florida. Her supporters will cheer her on because they think she is looking out for them. Hillary knows she will not win the nomination even if it goes to the convention floor. However, she also knows that she can keep Barack from winning by doing that.

13. Unfortunately, I think you've laid out her likely game plan.
She's in it for 2012, or just in case something catastrophic happens to change the race.

8. I believe the question will become moot as the floodgate of SDs to Obama opens
Beginning Tuesday and increasing through the week. AssassinateGate had to have been the last straw for many of the holdouts.

9. May 31st will be very interesting. Isn't there now a joint fundraiser that day? With Gore?
I saw that reported here last night on another thread. Have not seen any other info on it.

IF the RBC announces a decision before that event ends there may be some real news by the end of the day.

10. MY PREDICTION ON R&BC DECISION:
Florida will be seated based upon the results of the primary held. Super Delegates will have a full vote each. Pledged delegates will have a half vote each.

Michigan will be seated based upon the results of the primary held. Obama will be given all uncommitted slots. Super Delegates will ahve a full vote each. Pledged delegates will have a half vote each.

As her political career is effectively over, Hillary will still take it to a floor fight at the convention. Her staunchest supporters will bolt to McCain's campa after she is denied the nomination on the first ballot and is further humiliated by coming in fourth place for Veep.

McCain wins in November, 100% because of Hillary Clinton.

11. She has rejected every compromise offer and continues to blame it all on Obama.
Edited on Sun May-25-08 09:30 AM by AtomicKitten
She's hoping to slide in under the cover of the chaos she is creating.

I don't think she's interested in anything short of the crown which she insists is hers, always has been, and to hell with anyone that tries to get in her way.

12. She won't accept the decision.
But at this point, it doesn't matter.
