McAuliffe: Hillary was talking about the timeline - "hyped up press and Obama camp inflamed it."
Edited on Sun May-25-08 08:11 AM by jefferson_dem
Just now on FauxNews.

Chris Wallace is following up aggressively - hammering Hillary for the "ghoulish remarks" and her non-apology. McAwful is squirming like the snake he is.

59. McAuliff is delusional. Obama's camp enflamed it? Obama could not possibly have made less of it
than he did. That, in and of itself, makes me furious with Clinton and her hacks.

They are incapable of being gracious, even when the person who has every right to be upset does them a nice turn.

What an INGRATE.

71. Let's look at Hillary's exact words.
Asked if her continuing fight for the nomination against Senator Obama hurts the Democratic party, Sen. Hillary Clinton replied, "I don't. Because again, I've been around long enough. You know, my husband did not wrap up the nomination in 1992 until he won the California primary somewhere in the middle of June, right? We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California. You know, I just don't understand it. You know, there's lots of speculation about why it is. “

82. We Should Start By Looking At The INTERVIEWER's Exact Words!
Edited on Sun May-25-08 09:02 PM by Crisco
She was asked about the calls for her to step out of the race.

HC:"People have been trying to push me out of the race since Iowa."

Interviewer: why? why?

And she refused to speculate on a reason, but instead remarked on the unprecedented nature of it.

The editor said to her, "you don't buy the party unity argument?"

"I don't because again, I've been around long enough ... there's been a lot of speculation about why (the calls for her to step out) it is..."

Editor: "what's your speculation?"

HC: "you know, I don't know. I find it curious ..."

5. At least two ways: he e-mailed the press citing stories covering it
and he keeps commenting on it, keeping it in the news. It has been his strategy all along. Up front pretends not to want to continue the story, while sending the press inflamed e-mails knowing they have his back and will cover the story.

38. Then, your glasses are colored by your admiration of Hillary.
Group think is here, to be sure. But, it is far from unified and absolute. I know that Hillary Supporters are different people. I like many of them, and find that we agree on vast majority of the issues. Others, I know are driven only by Obama hate. Others by Clinton love. And, some are trolls that don't really care for HIllary, just use it as cover to hit Obama.

If you can't see that there are unique thinkers and respect that, I can understand why you feel the way you do.

44. All THoughts and opinions are welcomed, and met with discussion.
I think that the vile between the two camps got too nasty, here, when both were still viable candidates. The inflammatory rhetoric was accepted, and has lasted. THe majority wins in democratic processes, and the majority accepts that Obama is the presumptive nominee.

Unfortunately, opinions got heated and everyone got used to nastiness.

I remember when the majority of the flamers were Hillary Supporters. November, December and January were filled with a lot of very nasty and persistent Hillary Supporters who were relentless to Supporters of Obama, Edwards and Kucinich.

I have only seen Clinton supporters on the defensive staving off the constant attacks that were based, not in issues but on ugly ugly distortions and twists.

33. "He would not have been my pastor..."
Here's Hillary's shallow, opportunistic response on Wright to the right-wing Mellon-Scaife rag ---

"He would not have been my pastor," Clinton said. "You don't choose your family, but you choose what church you want to attend."

Compare that shit to Obama's classiness. Democrats made the right choice. Say goodbye to the days of Chimpy-Rove-Clinton "old politics".

Unbelievable. You and Hillary deserve each other.
Here was Obama's comment on it, which you claim was out of line.

"I have learned that when you are campaigning for as many months as Senator Clinton and I have been campaigning, sometimes you get careless in terms of the statements that you make and I think that is what happened here. Senator Clinton says that she did not intend any offense by it and I will take her at her word on that," Obama told Radio Isla Puerto Rico.

40. Watch this - Video of Obama's classy response.
"Let's put it behind us." -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rjcprIlimW4

Contrast with this below --

***

(Hillary / O'Reilly interview - subject: Rev. Wright)

O'Reilly: "Can you believe this Rev. Wright guy? Can you believe this guy?"

Hillary: "Well, I'm going to leave it up to voters to decide."

O'Reilly: "Well, what do you think as an American?"

Hillary: "Well, what I said when I was asked directly is that I would not have stayed in the church.

O'Reilly: "You're an American citizen, I'm an American citizen, He's an American citizen, Rev. Wright. What do you think when you hear a fellow American citizen say that kind of stuff about America."

Hillary: "Well, I take offense. I think it's offensive and outrageous. I'm going to express my opinion, others can express theirs. It is part of just, you know, an atmosphere we're in today."

I understand that you want Obama to be everything and all things and Clinton to be nothing and everything ugly. I understand that your judgment is cloudy and you cannot see the reality that BOTH candidates are playing political games.

Obama is no different than Clinton--except that he used the race card to win and she would not.

not only in her comments but in how she lacks class/grace. I am a women (who is supposed to be in her constituency) but she's the last candidate I'd vote for. I firmly believe Slick Willy promised her the presidency after he was caught with Monica and that's the ONLY reason she stayed with him and the reason now they're both so UPSET she's losing! He had the connections and the money behind him then and she felt "entitled" for putting up with him all those years.

49. Fuck off, Terr. The Obama camp did NOT inflame it!
Obama bent over backwards to downplay it and to show graciousness and understanding toward Clinton.

You, Terr, are a filthy, lying, sack of warm diarrhea.

58. But since the timeline itself has been shown to be utter bull ...
McAuliffe really has nothing to fall back on.

I think you have to look at both ends of that statement at once: if the timeline is suspect (as many historians and pundits have pointed out by now), then the choice to cite Kennedy's assassination is even more bizarre and ghoulish.

60. Yesterday
What I find interesting there were posters on DU predicting that that something like this statement would come from a Clinton surrogate.

70. It is their MO.
Project, point fingers and blame as their candidate is infallible and experienced (just like our current pResident).

78. Please don't abandon Hillary in her time of need.
Go to her now and hold her close.
She needs you, she needs you now more than ever, DemVet.

Maybe then she will leave Bubba, and she will run away with you and then your Hillary fantasy will come true!

Just you and Hillary, running through the daisies in Central Park, skipping together down the sidewalk.

Oh, please, don't let her down.

77. Waaah! She's a VICTIM! But she's a STRONG WOMAN.
Puke. This shit makes all women look bad. And all Democrats! What a big effing crybaby Hillary is. If you can make it on your merits, freaking do so already! But you can't! So you cry and whine and act like a fool on the national stage instead.

79. McAuliffe's blaming Murdoch's NY Post on what he himself called "fair & balanced" Faux?
Faux was so pleased with McAuliffe's praise that they even made a promo ad out of it.

And of course Terry is further inflaming it by keeping in the news with his continuing comments. What a genius.
