2. I don't understand. I was a H supporter and voted for her back in Feb. But she lost
me weeks ago - she failed to convince me why she should stay in. I think it's obvious Obama will get the nomination, and I donated to him to help him along. I think it's odd that even as someone who was originally a supporter of her (over Obama), I don't get why she is still in. She's not staying in to win the nom - I think it must be for another reason.

5. thank you for responding
My take on this as someone who lives and works in Washington, D.C., is that she's doing this to damage Barack Obama to the extent that he becomes the nominee, he'll lose the general election, and then she can run again in 2012.

9. If that's true, it's incredibly short-sighted of her. So much can happen between
now and 2012, I don't see this as something to even remotely hope for. If true, then she would presumably sabotage his presidency the entire way along, right? This would make her look pretty stupid. I don't think of her as stupid. I've heard this argument before and have a hard time believing it. Politicians are strange beasts, however, so maybe you're right.

11. It's what she did to Kerry in 2006 when he made that gaffe about the troops, and she piled on him.
That was a part of the reason why Kerry decided not to run in 2008.

6. At past conventions
Candidates who stayed in with little chance of getting the nomination were there because they wanted to put a plank into the party platform. An anti-war plank, or civil rights, or abolishing the draft, or a host of other hot button topics that they wanted the party to unite behind.

If Hillary stays in until the convention, I would expect that she would have some issue, some unique policy statement to make that none of the other candidates has been pushing. But for all the attention that I have paid to the campaign, the only issue that Hillary keeps coming back to time and time again is "I'm more qualified" and the circular reasoning that accompanies it.

14. she still has a chance to win?
I think it's really that simple. Until one candidate reaches the magic number, (and until the FL/MI debacle is settled we won't even know what that number is), there is no nominee. A week is a long time in politics - 3 months is an eternity. Anything can happen.

Has there ever been a race this close? What I don't understand are the constant calls for her to drop out. Which polls show aren't even supported by the majority of the party - so I don't want to hear a "party unity" argument.
