I think she made a huge calculated error and it cost her the nomination. She could have at least apologized like Kerry and Edwards. I think the primary Democrat electorate was looking for a true anti war candidate this time. Obama's wins in most of the caucuses showed that the enthused liberal base Democrats have had enough of those who supported or voted for the war.

2. Painting herself into that corner was the 1st of several disatrous strategies for her.

3. I could have forgiven that
if she hadn't run such a bad and nasty campaign. I am not against Hillary the woman candidate, I am against Hillary the candidate.

4. This is the problem with hypothetical questions.
The question assumes that her IWR vote/failure to apologize (or recant) is the only issue with Hillary.

It is not. As we have seen throughout this campaign, there are other issues that make her a bad candidate... such as her lack of honesty and her inability to run an effective campaign which demonstrates poor executive ability.

The IWR vote issue, while a disqualifier in itself for many like myself, is but one symptom of a deeply flawed character.

5. She supported what had to have been a 50:50 chance that the worst things on Earth would happen
because she planned to run for pResident. I've read all of the cases that say she didn't vote FOR war. I understand the circumstances of that vote. But there's no way to avoid the concept that she considered the risk of war an acceptable cost (to others, BTW) for the benefit that she expected to acquire from it, i.e. "legitimacy" in the presidential candidates' club. This is my CORE problem with her. She used Us. She has what is Right and what is good for Hillary permanently conflated in her head.

People talk about Obama's calculation in re his support for the anti-War movement and, yes, I say he did calculate. You can't get into a position to do anything about some things if you ruin your chances too soon. That's the way that things work. But Obama's calculation was a bid for a different constituency than HC's.

Agree with us or not, HC NEVER demonstrated that she even understood how her vote looks to millions and millions of people. Talking about bringing the Troops home is soooooo after the fact. There are plenty of people to be against something that has gone very wrong, but not enough people to stand up for OUR INTERESTS in avoiding those things in the first place. Hillary's IWR vote calculation was a bid for the support of the Neo-Cons and their Slaves and then she never genuinely expressed an interest in the anti-War movement to be her constituents. Obama's calculation was a bid for a different constituency from HC's, Us.

There were several weeks when I was hoping HC would do something about this. Something that demonstrated the respect for us of being completely honest. She never did. It's too late now.
