1. Is Kathleen Sebelius really
a serious consideration for VP?

She's my governor and I'd hate to lose her, but I'd be thrilled to see her as veep.

44. She was considered the favorite by many back in February
although she's probably lost some support by now because of Hillary's antics. Also, as you probably know, Kansas has a 2-term limit for governor.

Edited on Sun May-25-08 09:19 PM by Tarheel_Dem
but I don't think he's as nationally known as Edwards. Has Edwards definitely said he doesn't want it? I think if there were a groundswell of support nationwide, as there seems to be in OH, Edwards would do it for the party. Just a hunch.

I think she'd be fine with it. Afterall, if he had won the nomination, he'd be out there working as hard as HRC and Obama anyway. Hopefully, if it's seriously offered to him, he'll accept. If not, Jim Webb's my next preference.

55. About Edwards: I know many say he won't help because...
Edited on Mon May-26-08 09:09 AM by CitizenLeft
...he was Kerry's running mate. But just maybe he's polling so well as VP because people regretting their vote for Bush feel a certain karmic compensation is due him. Or, maybe because he's become so much better at campaigning. His speeches didn't inspire me in '04, but they sure do now. He seems sincere about fighting poverty, and it's given him a real voice and a cause to advance. I remember his 2 America's in '04, but he's crystallized it now, and is much more passionate. Maybe it's made him a better candidate.

Oh, and, as an Ohioan... :woohoo:

40. Those Obama/Edwards numbers don't sound believable
Edited on Sun May-25-08 10:28 PM by ShadowLiberal
Are those numbers all from the same poll? Because if so I'd have a very difficult time believing the whole thing, simply from the Obama Edwards numbers. I doubt that even an Obama/Extremely popular Ohioan could win Ohio by 12 to 18 percent, and Edwards doesn't live anywhere near Ohio.

Edit: Oh and remember 2004, if Edwards really helps Obama carry the state by 12+% then why did Kerry lose Ohio with Edwards on the ticket? Kerry wasn't blown out of the water, so you can't say "well without Edwards he would have done much worse".

46. SUSA had Democrats as 52% of the sample.
Which is a bit odd since in 2004 only 40% of the electorate were Democrats.

There is some analysis of it here: http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/2008/05/party-identification-in-ohio.html

Why didn't they include other Democrats, such as Bill Richardson (since they polled NM), Wes Clark, or any other great Dems?.?.?

I went to their website and they claimed there are 16 matchups. I only found 4 of them.

Ohio

Virginia

Pennsylvania

New Mexico

If anyone finds out how to access the rest of the matchups please post them here.

48. I have no idea
As far as I could tell it has the same VP candidates names on the four polls I could access. It just amazes me that they would put Hagel as a possible Obama running mate.

I have a problem with rethuglicons who after years in congress to make our country better when they had the opportunity to do something constructive, now think they can do a better job after leaving.

Case in point Bob Barr, was a representative for years, voted for the "Drug War", the "Patriot Act" but now he's seen the light and wants to change the system.

Why didn't he do that when he had the means to do something?.?.?

Does he really think he could change the system if he became president?.?.?

I don't want a rethuglicon on our ticket, period.

56. I found this explanation when I clicked on the VA polling...
There’s a finite limit to the number of names we can test in a given poll; we’re aware not naming Jim Webb in Virginia (or Bill Richardson in New Mexico, among others) seems an oversight. Asking the same names in each state does mean it will take us a little time to cover most of the possibilities — and we think there’s value to getting a baseline tracking point for the less likely possibilities as well. Doing so means that SurveyUSA can show you that in October of 2006, John McCain led Barack Obama among Virginia’s registered voters by 20 points. Today, 19 months later, the same question, using the same methodology, as you can see in the table below, shows Barack Obama defeating John McCain by 7 points.

Looks like they've gotten complaints.
