**HILLARY's DIVISIVE TACTCS HURTING HER STANDING IN NY**
The racial divisiveness of Hillary Clinton's campaign tactics, as predicted, are causing her problems in New York, where many feel "...there was a lot of insult, slight and disrespect toward an African American candidate, and it translated as a slight to the African American community."

http://www.latimes.com/news/printedition/asection/la-na-clintonblacks25-2008may25,0,4753203.story

From the Los Angeles Times

Trouble brewing in N.Y. for Clinton
Black leaders say that if Hillary Rodham Clinton returns as senator, she'll need to heal racial wounds her campaign has inflicted.

By Peter Nicholas
Los Angeles Times Staff Writer

May 25, 2008

Even as she continues her longshot presidential bid, Hillary Rodham Clinton faces a political rift in New York, where black leaders say her standing has dropped due to racially charged comments by her and her husband during the campaign. African American elected officials and clerics based in New York City say Clinton will need to defuse resentment over the campaign's racial overtones if she returns to New York as U.S. senator.

State Sen. Bill Perkins, who represents Harlem, said constituents recently phoned him because they wanted to demonstrate outside Bill Clinton's Harlem office against comments by the former president.Michael Benjamin, a state assemblyman who represents parts of the Bronx, said his wife removed a photograph of Bill Clinton from her office wall -- an expression of the misgivings that some black New Yorkers feel....

"The Clintons have their die-hard fans who would never abandon them," said Eric Adams, a state senator who represents Brooklyn. "But there are those New Yorkers who feel there was a lot of insult, slight and disrespect toward an African American candidate, and it translated as a slight to the African American community."...

...Rangel told reporters this month that her claim she has the support of white voters was "the dumbest thing she could ever have said." Clinton later agreed with that. Paterson recently told a radio show he saw "desperation" in Clinton's effort to count in her favor disputed delegates from Michigan and Florida. Clinton's dwindling chance of winning the nomination includes snagging as many Florida and Michigan delegates as possible...

For a long time I've thought her campaign hasn't been considering her future
She's been doing and saying things that will certainly
cause her problems in her future political life -- if
she wants to have one.

may very well all be destroyed by Hillary's actions during this primary.

90. I honestly see Chelse becoming more of a JFK Jr type. Staying out of politics, she already ........
shuns the press, and she looks nervous any time she has to get up in front of an audience and speak. She's also bad at giving unscripted answers.

42. Did Hillary's female voters give sexist treatment to Obama?...
NO. That claim, and the claim about Hillary getting racist treatment from blacks, is absurd.

I've never heard of a candidate in a primary insulting voters who didn't vote for them, full well knowing they will need the voters the following November. Yet that is what Hillary and Bill did--repeatedly.

They are going to reap what they have planted, and it will be a bitter harvest when Hillary finds out that she has made herself a political leper.

she insulted voters who didn't vote for her, she insulted blacks, she insulted entire STATES whose Democratic voters didn't vote in the majority for her.

I hope she enjoys the alienation of NY voters. She earned it.

which is at your feet and others like you who keep trying to stir the pot at it were in an effort to win at any costs, problem is this is not the general election though so unless you and others are not careful a *win* for your candidate could well end up as a loss for the entire party.

59. Hillary is the one using assassination as a campaign strategy. If you...
don't like criticism of it, then you should go to the source: Hillary Clinton.

For you to blame others criticizing something heinous she has done is like Bush Jr blaming Iraq War critics for criticizing the debacle in Iraq.

Nice company you're keeping there, Punkin'.

69. You dont get it, allow me to explain.
Its not just about Hillary nor just about Obama but about you and others like you, you are the ones I blame when you all try to distort and twist something either that Hillary or Obama says in order to try to get "one up" over whatever candidate you oppose, you are the ones empowering this.
Clinton and Obama could go back and forth all day attacking each other and it would mean squat if people ignored it for what it was which is a bunch of static and instead focus on what they stand for, how they have voted for the last 4 years and so forth as those are the important things and not a stupid thing like a gaff when speaking.
Like I said though, keep this up and it might not matter who "wins" the primary because it might end up costing the general election, I am sure McCain would be thankful to you.

35. Very true...
Interestingly enough, my parents, who are very active in the NY Dem party, saw all of this coming very early on in the campaign. At one point, I think it was just after Bill's comment about Jackson's primary win, my mother said, that she was done with Hillary. She said she's going to keep this going and escalate it... because she thinks once she has won the nom, we all will forget and forgive and pretend we never noticed what she was doing. She said that she wouldn't forget.

This is from a woman who has had a photo of herself and Hillary on her study wall for the last decade.

Hillary always was a tough sell to rural Ny'ers. In the past, she'd squeak through, but just barely. I don't think she'd even manage that these days... The gun-totin', hard-werkin' folk would definitely go repub. Actually there is a lot of Hillary- hate up here... you see quite a few "anyone but Hillary" type bumperstickers.

I'd say if she has lost the urban vote she is toast.

87. Harlem is in NYC
Edited on Tue May-27-08 04:05 PM by WIllo
NYC used to generally means the five boroughs -- Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.

Sometimes NYC is just referring to Manhattan. Harlem is the upper part of Manhattan.

They are history in Harlem. But, there is still voter rigging to contend with.

How sad Obama supporters feel they can only win by dividing the party and spreading hate.

60. Red herring. Hillary can't win the GE, regardless of who runs against her...
in the primary.

Her unfitness for president of the U.S. is a reality that stands on its own.

before she was elected or reelected, I doubt NYers would have voted for Hillary.

She pulled a huge bait-and-switch on NY and, if I was a NY voter, that would really tick me off.

82. Speaking of "buyer's remorse,"
a poll here in California the other day showed Obama beating McCain by 7 points, while HIllary would only beat him by 3. The only reason Hillary won the primary here was that many Californians vote early, by mail. Many votes were cast for Hillary before Obama started campaigning. If the primary were repeated today, Obama would win by a large margin.

96. You have the BO people to thank for this divide between races, YOU KNOW CLINTON IS NOT A RACIST
Posting this shit does nothing but harm to your candidate, because it just alienates Clinton supporters like me even further from your candidate, but for some reason, you just can't seem to understand this. Keep it up, you will be guilty, for the reason your candidate loses in NOv. IF he gets the nomination. You people just can't stop the relentless trashing and posting things that as Democrats, you know are not true.

110. She panders to bigots which, IMO, is far worse....
How DARE you try to defend her on this?

She has pandered to bigots, turning back the clock of tolerance for racial differences in the process. Bigots are now quite proud of stating "I'll never vote for a black man," and in front of national TV cameras, too.

This is heinous, and it shows what a cheap-ass political whore she and Bill Clinton are. They sucked up to African-Americans when they had their votes, but now that they don't they are ready to kick them to the curb.

What Hillay has done is far, far worse.

108. See "Race Man" in New Republic--confirming the Obama campaign has played dirty all along.
Edited on Wed May-28-08 10:26 AM by Perry Logan
"To a large degree, the campaign's strategists turned the primary and caucus race to their advantage when they deliberately, falsely, and successfully portrayed Clinton and her campaign as unscrupulous race-baiters--a campaign-within-the-campaign in which the worked-up flap over the Somali costume photograph is but the latest episode. While promoting Obama as a "post-racial" figure, his campaign has purposefully polluted the contest with a new strain of what historically has been the most toxic poison in American politics."
