was Hillary trying to get attention?
I do feel strongly that her assassination comments were despicable and strategic, but I also feel like she made these comments to get attention. Maybe not consciously, but I've noticed that for the past 2 weeks, it's been pretty much Obama vs. McCain 24/7, with very little media and other attention on Clinton. For those 2 weeks, Obama started his national general election campaign, pretty much ignoring Hillary and her pathetic "what about Michigan and Florida" and "I've got the popular vote" rhetoric.

Now it's all about Hillary again and she seems rather content with that, not to mention playing the pity card and her campaign trying to act like she's the victim again.

Sorry if this has been said already, I've been away all weekend.

1. In order to get press attention
She has to say crazy things. However from watching the tape if she could have grabbed the words that came out of her mouth and taken them back after she said them she would have.

10. I know a whole lot of lawyers.
Not one of them....not ONE of them....ever says anything without thinking very carefully about how their words will be interpreted. I mean not one of them!! They are the most calculating word smith's I know. Hillary is not crazy but she is a lawyer. She knew exactly what impact her words could potentially have. She got away with saying the same thing in March and thought she'd get away with it again. She took a chance. Now she's trying to change the game (as usual).

2. Sometimes it just doesn't matter what one is trying to do...
Sometimes all that matters is what one *did* do.

This is one of those times.

3. She may or may not have wanted that result, but she sure as hell got that
result. Evil as her intent may (or may not) have been, it really just works to her advantage to have 24 hours of focused outrage . . . all that outrage just makes her seem relevant and signivicant, which she ain't. IMHO.

4. It's so hard to tell;
what was the motivation.

When you listen to the clip, it's quite clear the statement was not accidental, it was deliberately sandwiched in her other statements, the statement fit perfectly like a piece in a puzzle.

The question that's on everyone's mind is - what did she mean?

If I were Hillary, the statement would be meant as a warning. Meaning = anything can happen. Don't count me out just yet. Politics today is a 3 Ring Circus and there's still plenty of time for things to change.

Just like no one could have anticipated Kennedy's assassination, it's too soon to write her off.

I don't think it was meant as a threat or anything sinister.

12. cliss, I am inclined to agree with you.
I responded to another reply up-thread with the fact the lawyers always think very clearly about what they say. Hillary knew the potential impact of her words. She probably meant just that. Don't write me off because anything, including the death of my opponent can happen. She took a chance and it blew up on her.

5. Yeah, I wonder if she makes incindiary remarks so that everyone goes off on her

so that she can play "poor Hillary" again.

She seems to operate best from a defensive attack position.

In the offensive position, she just looks mean and petty.

11. I was thinking that just last night. She was being ignored and stomped her feet, said vile things,
and is back in the news again. Also a way to get her fans fired up before the FL/MI decisions come down. Makes her more of a threat as to what those voters might do. It's all bullshit. I have zero respect for her. I'm a feminist and proud of it. She's no help to our causes.
