Migration of Superdelegates Continues To Obama : +9 for Memorial Weekend, 49 to Go !
Edited on Mon May-26-08 06:55 PM by K Gardner
Obama's Superdelegate Migration Continues

Keeping an eye on the movement of that exotic species known as "superdelegates," we find continued flocking in the direction of Barack Obama.

Friday, Obama picked up two more of John Edwards' supers: Deborah Bacon-Nelson, and Peter Hoe Burling, both from New Hampshire.

Saturday, Hillary Clinton nabbed one of her own, Georgia's Verna Cleveland, but that was then offset by the loss a pledged delegate at Alaska's convention. On that same day, Obama picked up three more supers: Georgia's Stephen Leeds, former Alaska Governor Tony Knowles (know less, as some Clinton supporters will now call him), and Wyoming's Patrick Goggles.

On Sunday, three Hawaii supers were added on to Obama's tally: Kari Luna, Brian Schatz, and James Burn.

That brings our latest Memorial Day Weekend score to: Obama 9, Clinton 0.

Obama needs 49 more delegates to clinch the nomination. There are a total of 86 delegates up for grabs in the remaining 3 contests.

(For extra added enjoyment, try reading the indecipherable ranting comments below this article.. the ones in ALL CAPS are particularly entertaining)

Hope Everyone Has Had a Safe Memorial Day Weekend !

4. ...but if he doesn't get to 2025 before June 1, the number becomes 2209.
...so he needs those 49 in the next 5 days...

...which means they'll all have to be SD votes.

6. they are waiting on purpose. They want to compromise and then wrap it up
He will get a big share out of FL and MI and will be about 80 delegates away. He will get half of those in the three primaries and SDs will give him the rest.

7. I believe something like that will happen. It's not gonna happen before
June 4th or 5th, tho...and not with only 49 more delegates.

10. It depends on the MI and FL agreements. If they only count half
votes like Dems Abroad, the number will be much lower than that.

11. True.
My point was that "He only needs 49" doesn't work unless he gets 49 SDs in the next 5 days.

16. Well.. that's whats been puzzling me. Even if he got them, as Maddow and others have been calling
for - in the next 5 days, then it seems to me it'd be problematic to just "call it over". Yes, technically, he'd have won the 2026, but FL and MI would still be up in the air. Does my puzzlement even make sense?

IOW, they'd still have to deal with FL and MI.. so, say he got 50 SDs tomorrow.. is that a legitimate number to claim the nomination and would the meeting on the 31st effect it at all?

17. I don't know how true this is, but Donna Brazille said that if Obama reaches 2025
before the rules committee meets, he'll be declared the nominee.

18. I am thinking that the only mass declaration
will be after FL and MI have been settled.

Then, the number moves to (example out of thin air), 2,150.

He picks up another 100 from those 2 states (again, math out of thin air) and he is only 49+25 away at that point.

8. Those comments were priceless!!

What I just learned: Obama is a racist muslim who hates America and Jewish people and they are all voting for Hillary or McCain only. On a blog that was talking about delegate announcements. Typing in all caps and making up whole new words as they go along. Then taking the all-capped, misspelled, ranting mess and spamming that guy's blog with it. Repeatedly.

The funniest is the repeated DEMANDS to have the votes COUNTED!!!11!1!.

Um, does someone want to tell these knuckle draggers that the votes have already been counted and that the adults have moved into the delegate allocation phase?

What are they all 12 years old?
