Thanks and God Bless to those who have served in the military....
A sincere "thank you" for all you have done and sacrificed. You are my heroes.

Hillary in '08.

1. Thank you very much and You're Welcome!
But take care, we military folks and those of you who respect us are not terribly well liked here!

But every minute of service was worth it.

3. Bull Crap There Are Many Vets Here & This Site Has Been There For Many Active Vets
When my son was almost killed in Iraq in 2005 this site kept my hopes alive and walked me through his recovery. Your post is nonsense.

5. My post is based on
my own experiences here. I am pleased that yours have been different. However, that doesn't make my post nonsense any more than yours.

6. Sorry Sport I Was Here When I Almost Lost My Kid In Combat
And DU rounded around my family like a glove, so your post that DU does not support the troops is nonsense. I had a real time/ real life experience with DU support in a time of need for a military family. You sound like you are making subjective assumptions. Big difference. Your post is nonsense, I have empirical evidence that your suggestion is nonsense. What do you have? DU has and does support the troops. Prove me wrong. Where have you served during the existence of DU?

8. Like I said,
you have real life experiences, as do I. I have not seen that level of support for the military here. Your experience was of a personal nature. People here were undoubtedly responding to your need for comfort, and rightly so. They were supporting a PERSON, not the service. The posts and overall negative attitude I'm referring to are of a general nature and target the military and those in it as a whole. Your experience of support compared to mine is therefore apples to oranges. You are not wrong and neither am I. Have you been reading DU even today?

Granted, my active duty was prior to DU's life, but as I have continued in Reserve and also serve the CGA, I am certainly qualified to speak on this issue. And I am sorry that you almost lost your son and immensly grateful that you didn't. But since I almost lost MYSELF I will take the liberty not to modify my opinion on your account.

And regardless of whether we agree on the accuracy or inaccuracy of my opinion, Greenwood laid down a decent, positive post, and your response to his OP was inexcusable.

12. I'll assume you're having a bad day
and so I won't take issue with those pretty clear rule violations. It's a shame to cast a cloud over such a positive and appreciable OP. My mother nearly lost HER son and I'd have hoped for some common ground there.

18. Ok,
See the first time you said I didn't contribute to DU I thought you meant intellectually. Now that you've clarified, here's my end of the bargain. Look up.

So here's my question. Does a star next to my name make my opinion more worthy? Does it make my support of our ideals more real somehow?

And for the record, I have never, ever donated to any forum of any kind before, because every penny my wife and I can spare for donations goes to St. Jude's. Because of who your son is, here is my first exception.

Now I'd like your answer. Does the star next to my name make my opinion on this topic more acceptable? Can you take my "Shit" seriously now?

Does the star earn your respect where my shared service with your worthy son and my own mother's pain and fear did not?

I don't know you or what motivated your anger, but I hope that's not the case.

The very best to you and your son.

21. Your Speaking To Someone Who Doesn't Know How To Respond Without Tones Of Unwarranted Vitriol.
It's systemic in her, and quite sad to see really. You definitely didn't deserve that tirade.

20. Your Arrogance Is Astounding.
It's amazing how you think you could take your one in the bubble experience and use it to judge someone else so harshly who has had their own experience in seeing a lack of respect for the troops from a much broader perspective. And he's right too. Denigrating posts towards our troops have popped up pleny. Open your mind a bit and maybe next time you'll catch them. But for you and your son to tell this man to fuck off for having a sincere opinion on what he's seen and felt, makes you both look a bit like bitter morons.

17. What is your problem?
This vet, like your son, fought so that he AND YOU could have the right to speak their mind and you, of all people, dare to take a dump on it? Speak your mind...fine...but do you realy need to call a veteran a troll and tell them to fuck off? How about spitting on him while you are at it?

Good grief.

15. Well, you've got your dixie cup on too tight, then.
We have scores of veterans here, including myself. Are there SOME folks with deep-seated animus to the military? Yup. Less than 10%. When I served my nation (people!), I didn't put an asterisk on it - it was for everyone and for their rights to even express beliefs that offend me deeply.

19. His Post Isn't Nonsense. There Have Been Many Here That Have Slandered The Troops.
I know because I've shot it back in their face every time. So no, the OP isn't wrong.

save the thanks for Veteran's Day.

Today is the day to honor the dead.

4. Where is your service Greenwood? You are young enough to pump weights?
But no service? From your posts it appears that you have a comfy desk/white collar job but no service. If it is so honorable why haven't you joined up?

7. Binka, you seem awfully bitter....
I am truly sorry you are not happy with your plight in life.

Yes, I lift weights. Yes, I love country music. Yes, I am a redneck. Yes, I love the USA and love Lee Greenwood. Yes, I voted for Hillary Clinton.

And, I completely honor the US Military. The only thing that lets you and I sleep in peace at night and the only thing that prevents world chaos.

I do wish you well!
