HIllaryIs44 reported to Secret Service regarding Obama death threat
Saw this on FARK:

I received an email this weekend from a reader who says they've reported Big Pink to their local Secret Service office for making death threats against Obama.

The person they spoke with at the Secret Service office seemed to be especially concerned about this post:

http://bp2.blogger.com/_sftCTI-Fx-E/SCnVYKvX2WI/AAAAAAAAAo8/4qaj6SuNUzU/s400/5-10+19.20+curiosity+-+walking+thru+a+kitchen+in+the+summer.jpg

(snip)

Oh, and the reader also tipped them off to the long, rambling writings of someone who sounds like they have an over-inflated ego and a tendency to exaggerate their accomplishments. They said they told the Secret Service agent it reminded them of John Hinkley's desire to impress Jodie Foster.

Anyway, the agent this person spoke to took down the blog address, and said they'd have a look around.

Today's offense aainst intelligence: using memorial day to draw comparisons to the 'civil war' in the Democratic party. It is such an obvious political wedge. I actually joined DU (vs simply reading it) because I started seeing obviously slanderous crap from h=44 reposted here.

I don't like posting a link to Ben Smith but what the hell:

http://www.politico.com/blogs/bensmith/0308/A_campaign_mystery_solved_HillaryIs44.html

A campaign mystery solved: HillaryIs44

I wrote in December about a mysterious pro-Clinton, anti-Obama website called HillaryIs44, a site that floated sharply negative information about Obama long before the word "Rezko" passed the lips of Clinton and her campaign, and that has been the subject of many months of speculation among reporters, bloggers, and campaign staffers.

Now, two sources have identified the site's creator: A New York political activist named Alex Rodriguez, pictured above.

I called Rodriguez yesterday.

"How do you know?" he asked...

62. I don't know. Weird though.
When I learned of his identity, I emailed Tracy Sefl, a Clinton consultant who is perhaps best known as the campaign's liaison to Drudge, and whom reporters and insiders have long speculated -- without evidence -- was behind the site. She was amused to learn that I'd finally linked someone to the site.

16. This doesn't surprise me at all, sadly. Alot of the Hillaryis44 posters are former HRC boosters
who got TS'd for a variety of reasons here. They were brimming with venomous hatred toward Senator Obama before they got tombstoned at DU, and having their own little cesspool to post in over at Hillaryis44 gave them the "permission" to cross the line - and many have.

You can see in the posts of the remaining HRC boosters here the same longing to slip the leash of decent conversation and post things in a similar vein. They just manage to restrain themselves, barely. But they are brimming over with the same hatred as that poster at Hillaryis44 who was reported to the Secret Service.

87. They may be vile and loud
but their numbers are quite small. As far as voting for McSame - fine, it won't bother Dems who aren't part of the HRC lunatic fringe. Normal HRC supporters will gladly vote for the Dem nominee in Nov. And i'm pretty sure none of the H44 crowd has the brains to carry out a successful plot against Obama - they remind me of the Miami "terrorists". Still, I'm glad the SS is keeping an eye on them.

29. OK, well that person is an idiot
Google the screen name and he/she has posted using the SAME name on every blog from one in a Las Vegas newspaper to an ABC site, a Fox blog, Mother Jones, and everything in between. I had to spray the computer screen with Lysol when I read "HRC is everyone's mother.." in of their entries at some blog.

And, of course, he/she is from Texas (I say this as someone living down here..why do we get all the freaks??)...at least according to one entry that I found. Not posting the whole hateful thing but the last sentence is: "This Texan is ready to secede from the Union"

So whatever agency is going to track them is going to find a treasure trove of shit to read.

30. In case anyone ever wondered who created Big Pink
It's actually a guy named Alex Rodriguez.

No, not the same guy as the Yankees' A-Rod. Some ex-Perot rabble-rouser.

Rodriguez has long been politically active outside the mainstream of two-party politics. Arnebeck said they met as Perot supporters in 1992.

In 1994, Rodriguez was reportedly involved in a fight between grassroots Perot supporters and Perot's close aides over control of United We Stand America, an umbrella group of Perot supporters.

More recently, in 2004, he was political director of the Ohio Honest Elections Campaign, one of whose leaders, Arnebeck, went on to file suit to overturn President Bush's 2004 victory in Ohio.

Ironically, Rodriguez, who lives on Manhattan's far West Side, was quoted by me and others earlier this year in stories about the cycle's most famous piece of anonymous politics -- Phil de Vellis's "Vote Different" video.

"He has a long history of dirty tricks and a shorter history of getting caught," said Rodriguez, who had run across de Vellis in Ohio. (De Vellis vigorously disputes the charge.)

Edited on Mon May-26-08 11:10 PM by JackBeck
that there are some posters that love to go out with guns blazing. Then they show up on another site and brag about their tombstone accomplishment, looking for all the high-fives and pats on the back.

But once the bukakke is over, they're left hanging all wet and sticky, while some anonymous stranger throws them a clean-up towel as everyone walks away, leaving said poster with an inflated sense of self-worth, which gets quickly replaced with the deep sense of loneliness they brought before deciding to engage in the sordid affair.

36. once again Clinton supporters do their candidate a great disservice, but thankfully
I don't judge the candidate by the actions of her supporters, but by her own words.

38. Now do Hillary supporters see why I, KO and others were outraged that she
dropped the A word in this campaign. It legitimizes this kind of crazy stuff.

This was one (of the many, sadly) comments that made me call my local secret service office.

49. GAH! Don't people know any better?
That is so wrong, wrong, wrong. That is something that just should not be said, for obvious reasons. Gee, thanks for getting the ball rolling, Hillary...

I hope the SS rounds them all up and shuts down their sites.

57. these two examples do not reach the level
that got stormfront in big trouble because someone actually did threaten to do harm. these two examples are bordering on that but it`s up to the SS to determine if this warrants an arrest or other action. both sites will be investigated thoroughly by the SS....neither of these sites have the level of moderation as does the underground

72. Good. I reported a Free Republic poster during the Bush-Gore Florida debacle....
because I thought the threat was credibe.

During that time a few of us would commit to reading Free Republic posts, in shifts, to scan for credible death treats.

It may be that we need to start up another committee to monitor the Hillary nutball sites.

78. glad to hear I'm not alone
i got called out last week because i listen to at least 3 hours of limbaugh a week to keep up on what is coming next from the RW

not so useful this cycle as rush is very concerned with getting hillary elected and doesn't say much about anyone else

i have noticed that a denial point used by the hillary insane we are still stuck with
if you do monitor RW media sources they call you troll when you report what they say and deny the facts because you are sourcing them to rush
in the meantime while you report it they actually DO it

let me add i am sure there are many who really supported clinton
those people chose and worked hard for their choice

but these "defenders" are not them
they do hillary NO service with their actions and actually increase her damage
the fact that they will not accept the reality is the open weeping sore we must lance and stitch shut
they have through their illogical assertions removed forever any credibility they ever had

74. Save stuff like this because...
...oh, I dunno, someone might at some point decide to put up a Wayback Machine kind of site to preserve the lessons learned for future Democrats.

It could happen...

92. Netweeds instead of netroots
Edited on Tue May-27-08 06:57 PM by PATRICK
Most Dem candidates have a specific approach to the Internet modeled on Dean and Joe Trippi. If Hillary is joining Joe Lieberman in heavy handed and incompetent toxicity it is modeled on the old GOP, people-less and paid menu that certainly does not need or want many people, especially independent minds.
There is a shady area in between that helps the weeds.

Most candidate supporters at one time or another feed the weeds. Flame and bait, outrageous hype and unjustified claims, hero worship and demonization, all in the hale spirit of the usual political flak but oblivious to the dedicated manipulator(s) and the big picture.

DU will survive this wave of weeds that attempt to grasp certain things, choke them and threaten to bring grass down with them if rooted out. Christians have a pretty dismal parable about this, as confident as it is about the final harvest. They will stand out and be most vulnerable if the grass simply does not mix with them and throws off their easy influence, but sadly, fear, anger and lack of confidence are our common soil with seeming good reason.

Only, of those who would lead, some are above becoming weeds themselves, blossoming burdocks like Joe Lieberman, but most, like most Americans are wise and disciplined optimists, even populists and progressives with an eye to getting something done- not getting at someone.
