If you have to be persuaded, cajoled, or bribed to vote for the nominee...
Edited on Tue May-27-08 08:47 AM by Lerkfish
look, let's get down to brass tacks, shall we? If you have to be persuaded to vote democratic, or you have to be persuaded to vote for the nominee vs. staying home, or voting for mccain, then you aren't worth it. period. Or at least you aren't a good candidate for conversion.

I personally would have voted for Hillary, as much as I don't like her, if she ended up the nominee. That's because I am and have always been a democrat. I would NOT have demanded you persuade me to, I would have already been there, because I know no matter how bad a candidate we put forth, they are light years better than any republican choice.

do you see the difference, then? I'm a democrat. People that demand to be persuaded are people that are threatening to withold their democratic vote.

I have zero respect or tolerance for those that do that.

1. I agree with you - this "kiss up to me because" argument is b.s.

3. me too...
...Hillary is my last choice because McCain is NO choice and I'm really tired of Hillary supporters equating Obama support to Hillary hate.

4. I think the whole "will you vote for" is so tired. If the Dem candidate goes down in November..if
you are a true Dem, then everyone goes down, not just a select few.

I don't answer such questions seriously, I think they are a joke. I'm in, either way, won't like it, but I'm in..and it pains me to say it too. If Obama isn't the nominee, it will be a hard turd to swallow, but I could never vote for McCain. Never.

Of course, that doesn't mean I wouldn't protest any decision to take the nomination away from Barack, that's for sure. I'll hit the streets, for sure. Thankfully, I don't think it will come to that..because if it does, you can kiss the Dem party goodbye!

5. agreed. if one is so egocentric and petty that this demand or that
has to met before someone will vote for the dem nominee, they've demonstrated that they're not worth cajoling and sucking up to.

6. Agreed. Anyone who needs to be cajoled or bribed to vote for the nominee is not a progressive.

8. We learned that at Camp Wellstone. Don't waste your time on hard cores. Move on...
...to the fence-sitters and the leaners, whom we actually have a chance to persuade. And given how Obama has such a broad appeal, suddenly that universe is enormous this cycle.

11. If you are determined to vote against your best interests
there isn't a whole lot anyone can do to stop you. My family has been doing it for years -- and will do it again this year.

I will not kiss anyone's ass just to get them to vote in their own best interests.

If enough people vote against my best interests, I will try to go someplace where I will fare better.

12. You do have a mind of your own, don't you?
This is not a collective, but a political party. It is not mandatory that anyone vote for the nominee year after year if one does not agree with a particular candidate.

I've voted for enough losers just because they were the nominee, well enough is enough!! This time around I have decided that I will vote for someone, who I can't even tolerate, only under one condition: that both candidates be on the ticket. This race has been so close that they both have earned the right to be on each other's ticket.

I don't even know whether Hillary wants the job, but if she's not at least asked, then it's further proof that the "unity" meme is the B.S. that I take it to be.

14. then go vote for McCain
and don't come back here bitching about president McCain afterwards. You lose that privilege. We're not going to be blackmailed by you or any other hillary supporter. "Give us what we want or we're going to pitch a fit!!" Go ahead, bang some pots and pans. Stomp your feet. Flail about on the ground. Hold your breath until you turn blue.

If you really feel that McCain is a viable alternative, go vote for him. But don't come back here because you no longer qualify as a DEMOCRAT. You'll be just another spoiled child who cried because they didn't get their way.
