McCain ad features African-American Obama supporter
McCain ad features Obama supporter

A reader notices an odd choice, or oversight, in John McCain's latest television spot: The woman at left is wearing an Obama t-shirt.

"Big ideas for serious problems," the narrator intones as she shakes McCain's hand.

Now that's bipartisanship. Or something.

Also perhaps an indication of how (unsurprisingly) hard it's going to be for McCain to build any African-American support at all.

12. Actually you may be on to something.
Charlie Black and Mark Penn work for the same firm.

3. I'm thinking McCain showed up at an Obama rally just to get a pic
with a very attractive AA woman. :)

5. I don't think this is particular to the black community. It's hard for McCain to find any big crowd
that's not interested in seeing the Democrats take over. McCain is making a valient effort here, but it's just not his year.

10. Can't even get enough to show up to a fundraiser in Phoenix
to make it a believable event. Even with Boo-Boo Bush there.

I can just imagine how things want in the editing room:

Director: "We need some film of McCain with a black person, preferably a woman. We have to put some diversity in this spot. Find me tape, now."

Flunkie: "Found it."

Director: "Perfect! Brown and female."

Flunkie: "Uh..."

Director: "What? It's perfect! I'm the director. I'm the decider. Splice it in. I'm going on a bike ride."

Flunkie: "Whatever you say, boss."
