Fukuyama... yes, THAT Fukuyama... wants Obama for President.

Pigs flying? Monkeys coming out of butts? That's ho-hum stuff compared to this. The Rapture is surely coming soon.

5. Castro endorsed Obama?
Fidel Castro criticized Sen. Barack Obama on Monday, writing that the Democratic presidential hopeful’s plan to maintain Washington’s trade embargo against Cuba will cause hunger and suffering on the island.

The ailing 81-year-old former president wrote that Obama was “the most-advanced candidate in the presidential race,” but noted that he has not dared to call for altering U.S. policy toward Cuba.

“Obama’s speech can be translated as a formula for hunger for the country,” Castro wrote in a column published by government-run newspapers, referring to remarks Obama made before the influential Cuban American National Foundation in Miami last week.

Wish I had a better source than Fox... Gee some endorsement...

2. Not surprising
Obama's policies are very conservative. They were, after all, written by conservative think tanks.

but probably not worth much more effort than that.

And if we're having a BBQ cook-off, somebody'll have to represent Memphis-style.

17. Fukuyama abandoned his flat earth thinking a couple years ago
Edited on Tue May-27-08 04:03 PM by Hamlette
when he realized the GOP took his ramblings seriously. There was a great interview with him on The Daily Show where he basically said they were sitting around (implied they were stoned) and thinking about what good the US could do now we are the only super power. They decided we could use our military to do good in the world, to promote democracy and ease suffering from dictatorships.

Then, he said, the GOP ran with it and invaded Iraq and made a complete mess out of it.

It was a very interesting interview about the time Fukuyama was releasing a book.

On edit, I'd note there are more republicans who hate what Bush did and are supporting Obama. John Cole has been excellent lately (www.balloon-juice.com) as has Sullivan.

I trust him about as far as I trust Ariana Huffington not to change colors again when the wind changes, if you'll excuse the mixed metaphor.

ppl who used bad judgment at one point really should be viewed with caution.

That said, my dad was a republican until Reagan who he considered a lunitic.

After reagan he never voted for a republican again and ended up more left wing than any of us.

You could have trusted him.

21. Fukuyama does have some decent theories
Too bad his "End of History" theory was far from true.
