Howard Dean: "We want the voters to have their say. That's over on June 3."
Primaries End On June 3rd

AP | CALVIN WOODWARD | May 27, 2008 at 09:28 AM

Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean said in April that he wanted the race to end after the June 3rd primaries. "We want the voters to have their say. That's over on June 3," Dean said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America."

The Clinton camp, has yet to be clear on when they'll end the fight. Just last week, Hillary said she would take the fight all the way to the Democratic National Convention in August.

No matter what day the race ends, the AP is already writing the eulogy for the Clinton era.

There's been a Clinton running for the White House or living in it for approximately forever. Bill, it could be said, was born to run. Running became Hillary's destiny, too.

1. Who says the Clinton era is over
Once the present horse race is over. Bill Clinton will later be a welcome voice in the Democratic party; in spite of some Clinton Faux paus' in the current campaign. Should Obama be the next president, I am sure with time, Barack Obama will call on the Clinton expertise and desire Clinton take on special roles in the new Administration. Hillary Clinton will continue to be a voice in the Senate. Why would we say the Clinton influence is over. Its not. .

5. Maybe..but not really
The Clintons may get called on for special service on occasion, but they have burned so many bridges and spent so much of their political capital on this that I think their days of influence in the Democratic party are over, they will move to the sidelines and become 'Elder statesmen' (Like Carter, Bush Sr. etc)

6. I don't know...
...maybe it's just me, but Democratic ex-Presidents seem to just do much more with their free time than ex-GOP presidents. The GOP just vegitates, collects favors and has their friends put their friends and family into office and cushy jobs.

18. That was George Mitchell
primarily anyway, Clinton was involved but George Mitchell was the one on the ground actually doing all of the negotiating and taking all the heat.

7. Girlfriend sounds like she's really going to the convention. This is from Sunday:
Hillary: Why I continue to run

"I am running because I still believe I can win on the merits. Because, with our economy in crisis, our nation at war, the stakes have never been higher - and the need for real leadership has never been greater - and I believe I can provide that leadership."

11. With all the great posts in your journal, do you really want this one on the record
Edited on Tue May-27-08 05:17 PM by Catherina
I say that with the utmost respect too.

Hillary isn't too blame for Bill's disrespect and infidelity. What Bill put her through is an unforgivable humiliation we shouldn't joke about. The strength and dignity she showed during that time deserve high respect.

20. On what do you base that on, a poll in which some Clinton supporters said they would NOT
vote for Obama?

and since the polls have not reflected the young people, who have been registering in record numbers, Obama will win

You want her to take it to the Convention, that will insure the Clinton legacy, but I don't think it will be the legacy they would want

16. Carter politely said the same thing a few days ago
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DO34pCToVU

Like about 200 or so other superdelegates, Carter is officially uncommitted. But he suggested the outcome of the race was a foregone conclusion.

"I'm a superdelegate, having been president before, and I think that a lot of us superdelegates will make a decision ... quite rapidly, after the final primary on June 3," Carter told Sky News. "I think at that point it will be time for her to give it up."
