She looks personally pained that anyone would insinute that Hillary's comments were in any way "coded" or offended people. She's blaming the potential division of the Democratic party on people "who are making the Clintons out to be monsters."

What the hell is her problem?

77. No kidding
I saw it, and thought "have I ever heard her go off like this before?" She was totally offended about how people were treating both of the Clintons, as though there were no room for any interpretation other than theirs on this issue. I think at one point she even got uppity about people treating a former president this way. I remember thinking, so much for a democracy with the Clintons on board - it just felt like "don't treat the monarchy this way - how dare you."

The guy with the talk radio show specifically said that his callers were angry and upset from the minute they heard Clinton say this - he was getting tons of calls on it. At which point, Joan was so wierd acting that she thought he was giving his opinion on the statement and wanting to fight with him over "his" opinion of Hill's statement. He had to repeat that her argument was with his callers, as he was just relating what the public thought of this crap. Yeah, how dare the public not accept Hillary's version of what she meant or said.

The Clinton campaign has lost the black vote. LOST IT.

A democrat cannot be elected without the black vote.

She also faces trouble when she returns to New York.

6. Maybe because she has a valid point? It pains me every day to
hear the hateful things some of my fellow Democrats say about the Clintons. They aren't monsters, they are fine people, who have many years of service to this country. Now because of the primaries she is the Devil incarnated.

The other side refuses to admit that her assassination comment was way overblown and taken out of context but since it just plays into their idea of Hillary and Bill Clinton and all is fair in love and politics they took it and ran. And ran and ran and ran. At this point they don't care what the truth is, just skew it and use it.

Obama is a fine candidate. I don't like to read or hear ugly names about either person or their supporters but some people just can't let go of the nastiness.

They are human. But we never saw that side as raw as we have seen it this election. We have never seen them losing, and that is when people like them are at their worst. And it jars that much more with the better memories of the past.

90. Hear, hear!!!!!!
Leave it to the vultures in the media and the Obama gang to take Hillary's comments out of context and to state that what she was really saying was that she was hanging on just in case someone killed Obama. The world does NOT revolve around the new Messiah and Hillary was talking about the time line of the primary season and how they had previously gone all the way to June before a candidate clinched the nomination. That's all!!!

Obama. In fact, you can't even do that now. Try and see how fast you eat that rock pizza without cheese or sauce. As far as me getting pleasure out of you biting it, well let's just say, I get pleasure out of knowing, in a short time, this will be over and Obama will be the nominee. That's all that matters, really.

Bottom line: I don't care who you vote for or if you leave the party. It's your life and your death, plan your wedding and/or funeral as you please. Have fun doing it.

That's why Hillary is still campaigning. If you can dish out shit at a fellow nominee...I can at least express my displeasure. Since when have the rules been enforced around here anyway?

The discussion of the possibility of Hillary supporters not voting for Obama is part of the news cycle, the campaign and my life. Six of my family members won't vote for Obama because of the misogynistic way Hillary has been treated. Now that's scary!

Those that don't want to vote for Obama for whatever reason, so be it. Their life. Their choice.

Guess what? Life goes on. It won't end on November 5th..if he isn't elected President.

Btw, I don't consider it scary, it's just the way the ball bounces. They won't vote for Obama because she was treated in such misogynistic way. Black people won't vote for Clinton because of the racist games played by the Clintons..blah blah blah.. Either you win or you lose, doesn't matter how its sliced or how its baked.

If the Democratic nominee loses, then all Dems lose..but if you and your clan are leaving the party, it's not your concern anyway, right?

I'll be fine..I'm one of those that did very well financially under Bush. I prospered like a rose and will continue to do well, no matter who the president is..but..you and your clan go on and leave, plenty of people to replace you. I've registered...250 new Dem voters since February..so..there's someone to fill your clans vacancy. Sorry to disappoint you, but there are and will be no tears here.

Btw, you can't speak for all Hill supporters, though you would like to..I know a few that plan to vote for Obama without pause, some work for me, others are in my own family. They realize what's at stake and aren't whining or pouting like some of Hillary's self-involved, self-absorbed supporters.

Oh and tell your peeps I said thank you for leaving..wouldn't want non-Dems to stay where they don't belong.

My peeps...as you call them...ARE LIFELONG DEMOCRATS! That's the problem!
Face it! We have a problem in this party if it isn't united and includes Hillary...the one with the most popular votes...just like Gore. If we don't unite the party...we lose! That's what I'm trying to say. You people love Obama so much...you're blinded by his light and you can't understand that everyone doesn't. News flash! Half this nation loves Hillary! If YOU were a true Democratic, loved this country and cared about our future...you would be happy to have Hillary on the ticket...she's powerful and she's a fighter. If she had lost the election in 04 like Kerry...you can bet she wouldn't have given up so easily.

Obamaites need a necessary wake up warning!

84. Yeah Yeah,.. As I said
there are plenty of Hillary supporters willing to vote for Obama. If you think the 17 million people that voted for her will all defect, then you have a defect. I don't care for Hillary or Bill, and I don't want her on the ticket. That's my view and my feelings, and I'm entitled, even if it turns out differently. If that bothers you, or anyone else, oh well C'est La Vie.

Your family can do as they please, as can you and anyone else, we live in a country which allows freedom of choice. Exercise it.

Btw, I'm no Obamaite..I first supported Richardson and then Edwards, so take your assumptions, pour a glass of wine and have a good meal.

I will say this again. If Obama isn't elected the president, life will go and I'll be just fine, and the country will survive. If you and your clan want to vote for McCain, or not vote for Obama, it's your life, your choice. It's not the end of the world, nor will God come down and strike you dead. You will survive too, but please, do not dwell where you are not happy. Life's too short.

8. I know!
It is such an foolish argument that Hillary "did not mention Obama....was not referring to Obama" etc. It is very simple...there are only two candidates at this point....she was saying one of the reasons she was staying in the race even though she is losing is because "remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated" etc. and then she tries to spin it that she was not talking about Obama, just making a historical reference. Well Ok then, it was a poor choice of historical references...but she most certainly was referencing her present...and only competition. The semantics of twisting this are insulting. We all know just exactly what she meant. She was staying in the race in case "something" took Obama out of the race so she could get it as default...and she used a historical reference of assassination to reference her point.

I still think Glenn Greenwald is great, but then again, he doesn't make every other column about how this, that or the other thing is going to "hurt" Obama, or how sexist the latest complaint about Hillary is.

Guess she's become one of those bitter women in HRC's demographic.

The Clintons have indeed become monsters; Samantha Power was so right. And all you have to do to confirm it is talk to FORMER ardent supporters like me. She lost me when she trusted Bush (some judgment and leadership ) and voted aye on IWR, then was mute when he betrayed that trust and went to war.

Joan and others like her can spin themselves dizzy. The fact remains that the RFK comment revealed ever more clearly Hi-liar-y Rotten Clinton's craven, narcissistic, sociopathic, power hungry soul and many of us who lived through that tumultuous time and worked on RFK's campaign were rightfully offended.

I was also waiting for someone in that clip to refute Joan on the timeline bullshit: RFK's campaign didn't even begin until mid-March 1968! He announced, to the chagrin of many, after Eugene McCarthy won the New Hampshire primary that showed how weak LBJ was. Then, also in March, LBJ went on to announce that he would not seek nor would he accept the nomination of his party for POTUS.

So the timeline, historical reference/perspective is very flawed. RFK's campaign was a little over 2 months since he was shot just after midnight on June 5th after winning the June 4th CA primary!
June in the primary cycle then is not the same as June NOW!!! Duh.

That is so funny, when you can see me on YouTube teaching a roomful of colorful kids. Wow ... DU has 'em all.

Racist? I'm tribal, fer sher, but that's my privileged background, which I eschew. Should I deny my heritage so you can pretend to be color-blind? Remember, I ain't Whitey ...

ROTFLMAO!

35. We Have Been Told From 'Day 1'
That nothing comes out of the Clinton campaign that isn't planned, so enough with all the misspeak garbage. She's said the same thing 3x, and McCauliffe has been gleefully touting the act of God and catastrophe meme for quite a while. Joan Walsh was belligerent and rude. spouting it was the Obama campaign's fault. Well they didn't cause HRC to yap and they weren't the ones who pointed it out originally. So their big crime was that after the fact they sent an email about it. Can you imagine if the situation was reversed? Well we don't have to, cause we know. So let me offer another quote from HRC, 'if you can't stand the heat get out of the kitchen.'

They might be moderate Republicans masquerading as progressive Democrats, but that's not nearly as monstrous as a George W. Bush or Newt Gingrich.

46. HRC's gaffe was a trifle compared to Obama saying "bitter"

and H's campaign didn't exploit the "bitter" word one bit.
Likewise the Wright association, which was over and done in a day - and H. never exploited it a bit.

In her Salon column Walsh calls Obama "Teflon", his campaign has been so criticism free. Yah, it must be the double standard Clinton compared to Obama that Walsh objects to.

:sarcasm: (for those who need it)

Now, let's compare the double standard Clinton compared to McCain, and Obama compared to McCain. A double standard must not exist! That must be the reason Walsh doesn't notice one. That must be the reason Walsh doesn't even mention his name.

See? Simple

http://www.salon.com/about/staff/index.html

They really have not been that fair this primary.

They did the same thing to Dean in 03 and 04....some very ugly posts about him during the primary. I don't know who was editor, but it got pretty biased.

Note that they never specifically quote what Walsh said. They all sing to the same chorus that she's a witch, pro-Hillary, this and that.

But very pro-Obama journalists receive great praise here.
