Ya know, regardless of anything, I can still see an Obama/Clinton ticket
and I think Obama could pull it off with his overall message of change, too.

On top of that, I see it winning.

I wouldn't be surprised if within three weeks, we're all on board the Obama/Clinton express headed to a huge win in the fall.

I will now don my flameproof underwear in preparation for what is to come.

1. If it happens, I'll go along with it.
But I will not be exactly thrilled.

4. Barack Obama is about to become the leader of the Democratic Party
In that role I believe it is his call to make who he wants to run with, and if I can trust him to be President, I can trust him with this call. It's his choice to weigh, and it is his choice to make. I will support him whatever he decides.

6. The VP choice should be someone who doesn't repeatedly say "assassination"
when discussing campaign strategy.

12. I guarantee you, if Obama sees it as being helpful
she will get the Veep nod and she will accept it.

Adn he will be able to justify it under the principle of Team of Rivals.

His team of number crunchers are th ebst in the business and they make Chuck Todd look like a rank amateur. If the numbers add up best with Hillary on the ticket, Hillary it will be.

Obama is above all, a pragmatist.

11. I don't really care who the VP is.
It's Obama who decides who he can win with on the ticket.
It's a difficult and fun choice to make, I hope he takes his time with it. McCain's had 3 months to play slap-and-tickle with his prospects, and still no sign.

15. Part of it's even *getting* the win, but more of it is about what might happen AFTER
The only thing she brings, in my view, are some of her voters who'll only vote if she's on the ticket. That's a subset of her base, some of whom will vote Dem regardless and some who flat-out will NOT vote the ticket because Obama heads it up.

After that, he would now be anchored by someone whom the GOP can tag as supporting the Iraq war, where he is now free to argue that he's solidly and consistently against it.

On the experience front, how does she actually complement Obama?

Will the voters who'll only come along if she's there outnumber the ones who will show up to oppose her?

And again, if that ticket beats McCain, on what basis could Obama trust her when she'd be thisclose to the Presidency?

16. The people with the most power in the pick for the Veep
are the Obama numbers crunchers.

They will determine who is put on the ticket.

and Lincoln's "Team of Rivals" was composed of some of Lincoln's bitterest political enemies.

22. I hope you're right. It's the single best way to unite the party.
And I hope Obama isn't ignoring the polls showing how well Clinton would do against McCain in the GE.

I've been very upset with some things his campaign has done, and I'm still worried about his background in Chicago politics and what the GOP might do with that. But I'd have wanted Obama on the ticket if Clinton were the nominee, and I think she should be VP if he's the nominee, as he apparently will be.
