"The Art of War" .... Poker and Bill Clinton's losing strategies.

Bill Clinton's odd math, "they are trying to make her quit" statement and 'we are winning the Presidential election" comments prompted this Strategic Poker writer to examine Bill's 'game'.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

As mentioned in yesterday’s post, the Clinton’s are employing from all Six of the Strategy Groups: Confrontational, Attack, Chaos, Advance, Desperate Situations and they believe they’re Winnings.

SIX ATTACK STRATEGIES

Startle the snake by hitting the grass around it. When preparing for battle, do not alert your enemy to your intentions or give away your strategy prematurely.

Now here Bill’s violating Strategic Thinking. By whining and crying about being picked on and abused by his own party (for upholding rules he and Hillary agreed to about primary violations, but now that those state’s “could” mean a difference, there’s a different song is being sung)

Part of playing your cards close to your vest, so to speak, is so that your opponent(s) - or anyone else for that matter - is unable to see them.
As a master strategist, Bill, you’re failing miserably.

Borrow another’s corpse to resurrect the soul. Take an institution, a technology, or a method that has been forgotten or discarded and appropriate it for your own purpose.
Revive something from the past by giving it a new purpose or to reinterpret and bring to life old ideas, customs, and traditions.

This is precisely what the Clinton campaign is doing with their “new math” drum beating strategy regarding the Florida and Michigan rules violations and the delegates that should not count as a result. They agreed to the rules, but now desperately need those states.

Point for consideration: Even if those states were somehow negotiated back into play, it may not have the outcome the Clinton campaign hopes it would. However, the potential damage the infighting is having on the Democratic party - if only that the Republicans are slithering forward with little resistance - could be harmful in the Fall.

Entice the tiger to leave its mountain lair. Never directly attack an opponent whose advantage is derived from its position. Instead lure him away from his position thus separating him from his source of strength.

Here again, Bill fails to utilize Strategic Thinking instead of employing it. He is literally calling out, not only the “Tiger”, but whole lair in the form of the DNC.

It would be one thing to campaign against an opponent like Obama, but to literally cannibalize yourself by going after your own party. It just doesn’t make sense.

But then again, we’ve had an administration in office for nearly eight years now that has followed one practice after another that hasn’t made sense and the public hasn’t put one of them in prison yet.

Amazing!

SIX CHAOS STRATEGIES

Remove the firewood under the cooking pot. When faced with an enemy too powerful to engage directly you must first weaken him by undermining his foundation and attacking his source of power.

Indirectly, Bill is using this strategy by continually inferring that those votes, those delegates, those whatever make up their “new math”this week are rightfully the Clintons and not the Obamas.

He also infers that the magic element of leadership is Hillary’s and that utter disaster would befall the country should Obama be seated.

By undermining the minds and hearts of those who follow the Clintons what happens when the final curtain falls on this performance? They have been programed NOT to accept this unqualified individual. They will, in much larger numbers than can be imagined, either vote for his opposition in anger or not vote at all.

How do you feel about that Bill? Oh, you can manage another campaign in 2012? I see, said the blind man.

Catch a fish while the water is disturbed. Before engaging your enemy’s forces create confusion to weaken his perception and judgement. Do something unusual, strange, and unexpected as this will arouse the enemy’s suspicion and disrupt his thinking. A distracted enemy is thus more vulnerable.

Perhaps this is what the Clinton’s are doing. This might very well be the strategy since the delegate count got out of hand. They can simply stir the water to make it appear muddled and in disrepair and still look the fighter. That way they can hopefully recoup some financial losses, have a few years to patch up the scars to dignity (after all, the public has an extremely short memory) and prepare for a race with McCain in 2012. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>snip

I hope many will enjoy the rest of this read.....
