Democratic Vice President Possibilities
It seems that many feel Hillary Clinton will not be Barak Obama's Vice Presidential pick if he does in fact get the Democratic Nomination. I understand some here are not the biggest fans of Senator Mary Landrieu, but what do DUers think of Senator Mary Landrieu as a Vice Preisdential Candidate? I think she coud be an assest. I think she could help pick Louisiana. In addition, she had years of political experience and she cannot be called anti-military. So, what do others think and what are your picks for Vice President?

2. I think I know who his pick will be
Jim Webb. Think about it. Obama needs to appeal to the working class whites, and what better way than to pick the senator from Virginia. I have pondered many candidates, but Webb just makes the most sense to me, if he is willing to do it. A marine veteran and former Secretary of the Navy, Webb would give military credence to an Obama candidacy.

I am/was a Clinton supporter, but come November, I am a democrat, and I think Webb is our best pick. Of course, I would like to see Clinton in the veep slot, but short of that, Webb would be an excellent pick.

Your thoughts?

3. Good Pick
I think Webb is a good pick. As you said he can bring in the working class vote and he can appeal to the military. In addition, he also add to Obama's experience. There is very little Republicans can say against Webb in terms of experience in that he has both national and international experience.

7. I think intellectually he matches up well with Obama. They are both
brilliant. In politics, writing and just about everything else they do. I think they would work together well.

4. It needs to be a woman.
If not Hillary, then Landrieu. (I said this a few weeks ago.)

We won't spend time defending a Senate seat that is all but lost, and she has appeal to a lot of groups.

6. I won't argue that
A woman veep would be nice. Like I said, I am a Clinton supporter. I'm not sure what Landrieu would bring to the administration, and that would be of utmost importance, other than the fact she is a woman.

Of course, a president is only as good as the people he surrounds himself with. Look at what happened to Bush! Our paramount concern as democrats should focus on who will be making and influencing policy in an Obama adminstration, should he win, and that is not a lock. After eight years of incompetency and bad decision-making, it will take a cadre of intelligent and informed personnel to straighten out this mess and get us back on the right track. You can bet the republicans will fight tooth and nail to stop anything positive we try to do, unless we reach out and try to make bi-partisan legislation that is progressive and not regressive.

11. Right then the racists and the sexists
can both vote Republican!
Only the democratic party could screw this up so badly. Why on gods green earth must they pick now to make a huge statement.
They had a guarenteed winner and they let the Scumbag Repuke owned media convince them to ignore him.
This is without a doubt the most important election since WWII, and were gonna do everything we can to give the EVIL EMPIRE a shot at winning it. God help you poor dumb democrats, you couldn't see this coming if they e-mailed you the plan.

15. She's Winning
If you are talking about Landrieu she is actually leading in the polls, as far as I know. However, I still think she could add to the ticket.

19. It will be a tough fight. Especially with the easy election of Jindal.
And the fact that the Democratic base of LA is less substantial than it was in 2002.

8. I sometimes wonder about the political judgement--
If Obama picks a woman, that is going to be regarded as
a direct slap in the face for HIllary Supporters--Women Voters.

He and you would be wise to pick a person (Male) who can be
seen as President.

No matter how you feel about McCain. The GOP ticket--McCain
Rommeny makes a strong visual. Lots of Americans vote on viskuals.

In the General Election, the voters are different. They do not
think like Duers.

Mary Landrieu voted with GWB 75 to 80% of the time. And you
people harp on Hillary who has a much moreLiberal Record.

I know you may not be refering to me when you say "people harp on Hillary", but I just wanted to point out that I have never harped on Clinton for her voting record.

9. It won't be another Senator. Any Senator.
Unless Biden agreed to do it, in which case he might be considered... but I think he's stated he isn't interested.

That possibility aside, look at Governors. The executive experience is the most beneficial thing to add to the mix. I still think Sebelius would be an excellent pick.

13. Russ Feingold would reinforce and balance the ticket.
He would help on the experience issue, in the Midwest, with libertarians and independents, he reinforces Obama's ethics platform and he's an excellent debater.

16. The Divorces
I am a big fan of Russ Feingold, but I think the divorces would cause problems. I know he has been able to win reelection in Wisconin, but I wonder if the same would happen in a national election.

18. I love Russ Feingold but
the libertarians? This is a guy who supports single-payer healthcare and votes against pretty much any free trade agreement that hits the floor. His stance on economic issues is almost as un-libertarian as anyone in congress. We need a fighter like him in the senate, especially now that Ted Kennedy's health is deteriorating, not running to be someone's errand boy.
