Obama's new spot features him speaking -- quite respectably -- in Spanish to deliver an economic message to Puerto Ricans, and mentioning that he was born on an Island too.

11. Bastante bien es bastante bien...
Is there a colloquial phrase for that? I just went with straight translation.

15. He did a pretty good job of trilling his rr's
My Spanish is horrible, but I have a pretty good ear for accents. His accent was definitely not Puerto Rican.

13. I saw that in Political Video land the other day..
It was good fun posting on it. I Rec'd this but, it's been over 24 hours.

"It's a signal of how hard he's going to be contesting the Hispanic vote, and at least a slight risk: John Kerry assiduously avoided using his French in 2004, and there's certainly anti-Hispanic sentiment in some parts of the country."

Didn't think about the "Hispanic vote" at the time..his accent will only get better 'cause he's pretty good for the little practice he's had time for.

No worries, Politico Obama is fearless.

16. Oh, yeah..I saw a video of him a few
days ago in Puerto Rico when he was doing the parade style walk through San Juan and he was reading some of his responses in Spanish and it was kinda on the fly.

But, this ad has shown tremendous improvement and the potential for really getting down with the Espanol for relating to our Spanish speaking country peeps.
