Prediction: The Clinton camp will claim next that Obama was chosen in a "smoke-filled. room"
Edited on Wed May-28-08 01:47 PM by Perky
They will ignore the delegate count. They will misrepresent the popular vote totals. They will selectively characterize snapshot polls into electoral math. They will drop hints about an independent run. They will claim disenfranchiesemnt of women. And they will pooh pooh the very notion of accepting the number two slot on the ticket.

All in the hopss of convincing necessary 85% of the remaining unpledged Super Delegates that there candidate is more deserving of the nomination.

All within 24 hours hours of the BRC decision.

This will push nearly all the unpledged super delegates to back Obama and void any chance at all of her being on the ticket.

There is not a single measure under the standing rules of the DNC that allows her to claim victory. None. Nada. Zilch.

3. The pledged delegates represent the voters.
The superdelegates represent the "party". Both have chosen Obama.

17. Pretzel logic
Let's count all the votes - but then let the super delegates decide, not the voters. So which is it?

Some version of that perverted logic comes out of her or her camp everyday. Wouldn't you think her supporters, if they really believe the primary process should be the determining factor, would be screaming bloody murder about the suggestion that SD's ought to decide this race over the will of the primary participants.

2. She's digging her own grave. THe superdelegates aren't idiots,
and many have to run re-election campaigns. The only question is when Hillary admits defeat. That damn ego.

10. Obama has told his people not to protest at all.
No Obama protests at RBC

An Obama aide confirms the authenticity of a Daily Kos posting instructing Obama supporters not to combat Clinton protests at this weekend's Rules & Bylaws committee meeting with their own counter-protests:

Under direction from Chicago HQ, we are being asked NOT to hold any events like this. For
several political and media reasons, I have been asked to relay the message that only those Obama supporters who obtained tickets to sit inside the meeting should attend. No outside
protests/rallies/gatherings, no matter how peaceful/positive/well-intentioned.

If you would like to be involved in the counterevent (voter registration in Northern Va.), please let me know.

As the blogger notes, Obama's been pretty good at maintaining message discipline even among supporters he doesn't actually control.

11. Those primaries were non-binding Obama put resources into GOTV for caucuses
If Hillary had bothered to do the same the results would have looked similar to the primary results. But as you may recall she blew all of her money by that point because she had no post Super Tuesday strategy. Anybody who is that short sighted is not fit to take on the Republicans in November.
