Wikileaks: McCain plants operating at hillaryis44 and other sites to supress Dem vote if it's Obama
http://wikileaks.org/wiki/John_McCain_US_Presidential_election_Clinton_astroturfing_strategy_(2008)

The document, dated May 15, 2008, and disowned by the McCain campaign team, presents a memorandum by 'S. Schmidt', likely Steven Schmidt, McCain's senior campaign advisor. It outlines a strategy designed increase rivalry between followers of the Democratic Party candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. Several specific techniques are described including organizing Clinton "meet-ups" (http://hrclinton.meetup.com/).

The memo appears to have been sent to a wider McCain campaign team group which focussed on internet based campaigning.

According to the memo, conflict between Clinton and Obama has created the possibility, on the event of an Obama nomination, to 'depress the turnout of key Democratic demographics in November'.

To reach voters consisting mainly of 'white, female voters over the age of 40', a strategy has been worked out, based on newly tested 'lines of attack through independent pro-Clinton communities on the Internet', 'local "meet-ups"', and similar means.

The document identifies three messages believed to 'resonate well' with the demographic and which it hopes will weaken Obama's growth following Clinton's loss of the nomination.

1. Sen. Obama’s connection to Rev. Wright
2. His inexperience
3. His links to the corrupt Chicago political machine

The memo calls for a 'greater commitment on the part of McCain’s fundraisers and our various media partners' to help in the alienation effort.

An example, pushing 'Clinton campaign’s narrative about the unfair treatment that some networks, specifically MSNBC, have given her camp' is given.

16. Don't forget Bob Barr. I think he is going to have a big role...
in the GE because he will give millions of Republicans who cannot vote for McCain an alternative.

Barr is basically a Goldwater Republican. It's the GOP that's changed, especially in privacy rights and states' rights.

There are many Republican voters who are horrified and disgusted at what Bush and the neocons have done to their party and to America. Barr will be a good fit for them.

This gives Obama a good-sized buffer, IMO, for the Hillary voters who won't be able to cross over and support Obama. In fact, those Hillary supporters may find many things to like in Bob Barr.

17% of Republicans will vote for Obama over McCain

that's a net of +7%...

I would add one more Republican talking point:
That Obama has disenfranchized the voters of Mi and Fla.

38. this would explain why posts are so often cut and pasted, don't fit into context
because so many posts against Obama aren't merely expressions of a thought relating back to a thread, but calculated cut and pastes designed not to express, but to forment arguments, and spread negative memes/talking points as far and wide as possible.

you definetely see that type of behavior here.

what i have noticed is that many anti Obama posts simply have a quote and a link and require relatively little effort to post which would fit with the pattern at hillaryis44 of few posters with tons of posts. the obama posts here (the positive ones) run the gamut but are much less a cut and paste job.

so, yes, i think we are being played when we see this type of behavior and think it is the genuine feelings of Hillary supporters. i have yet to meet one that will vote McCain in November and relatively few I know even dislike Obama despite being diehard Hillary fans.

so i just don't buy into the sincerity of those posts, unless I see some original thoughts or at least original wording and not just a cut and paste job.

46. Duh, sorry
It says that right in your OP. I'm a goon.

So, that would be this Steven Schmidt, correct?

...During the 2006 election cycle, Schmidt served as campaign manager for California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger's reelection bid, and prior to that was a member of the Bush political inner circle. He handled the strategic communications efforts during the Supreme Court confirmation hearings of Samuel A. Alito Jr. and John G. Roberts Jr., and during the 2004 presidential election he was a member of the "breakfast club" -- a small gathering of top level Bush advisers who met regularly at the home of senior strategist Karl Rove. Schmidt will remain an adviser to Schwarzenegger...

72. Watch for efforts to create some kind of explanation for a McCain "win"
to cover the inevitable rampant election fraud. The explanation doesn't even have to be all that believable, just needs to be something the corporate media can spew without that sick look they get when they realize they look like complete morons.

That Americans are still too racist/sexist are the freebees, no doubt they'll need backup stories.
