Can we all come together and admit that the corporate media coverage of this election is disgusting?
We have heard a lot of complaints from Clinton supporters lately about unfair treatment in the media. I am not about to defend the corporate media, and I will not deny that there have been numerous examples of unfair treatment of Hillary which go back many years now.

Hillary supporters have legitimate complaints about the corporate media coverage, just as we all have legitimate complaints about corporate media. But I hope that while Hillary supporters complain about the treatment of their own candidate they will also take the time to seriously think about the treatment that Obama has received.

Did you know Barack Obama does not wear a flag pin at all times? Did you know there was a time that Obama stood up for the national anthem without putting his hand over his heart? Did you know his middle name was Hussein? Have you ever heard of Saddam Hussein? And did you realize that Obama sounds like Osama? Did you hear that he was a Muslim? Did you hear that he was a Christian who went to a church with a really angry black pastor? Did you hear that he is friends with a guy who set off a bomb when he was in the Weather Underground? Did you hear that his uncle didn't really liberate Auschwitz?

Of course you have heard most of these things asked before, because the corporate media actually thought that it was appropriate to try and attack Obama's patriotism. They will emphasize his middle name and “accidentally” refer to him as Osama rather than Obama, right before they point out he is not wearing his flag pin. And if you are watching Fox News you will even hear Liz Trotta have a laugh about assassination, and hear Bill O'Reilly talk about a lynching party against Michelle.

While people have every right to be outraged at the media treatment of Hillary, they should not try to pretend that Obama has been treated fairly. I don't think Hillary supporters would have appreciated it if their candidate was questioned on why she wasn't wearing a flag pin or pundits continuously “confused” her name with the name of the world's most wanted terrorist. Complain all you want about the treatment of Hillary, but don't pretend that Obama has had it much better.

They tried to attack Obama's patriotism in the primary, and if we don't challenge them on it they will attack even harder in the general election. So far Obama has been able to withstand a lot of attacks, but there are still plenty more to come and when he is being smeared we need to stand up and say something.

Is Obama perfect? Certainly not, and there will be legitimate criticisms of him. The fact is however that he is a hell of a lot better than John McCain, and we need him to win this election. When he is unfairly smeared we need people to stand up and say he is being unfairly smeared.

We need to stand up and fight so that we can defeat John McCain in November. Let's have supporters of both candidates come together and admit that corporate media coverage of this election has been unfair to all of our candidates. Rather than debating who received the worst abuse from the hacks in the punditry, let's stand up and fight those hacks together. We need to call out the media on their lies, and we need to stand up for the truth. We have a big fight ahead of us in November, we can not allow the corporate media to define our candidate.

1. Enthusiastically agree
When I heard Charlie Gibson defending the media today, and their shameful performance before the war, he said, "we asked the questions." And I immediately thought, yeah, like the questions you asked at the last debate, you worthless gasbag!

2. I can't, in good conscience, agree with that.
You see, my agreement would have to be based on evidence to have any integrity, and I don't have any evidence.

Please don't give me any; I won't look at it.

It's been 10 years since I paid any attention to corporate media. They are literally not allowed on my tv or radio.

I read the news; that means scanning headlines to see what's worth my time, and then reading several sources. I stay informed.

I don't grace the corporate media with any of my time or attention.

If the rest of the nation did the same, they'd be alone in an echo chamber.

4. If you think Olbermann is bad you should try watching Hannity or listening to Rush....
Or tune into Glenn Beck, Brit Hume, Bill O'Reilly, Laura Ingraham, Michael Savage, Joe Scarborough, Shepard Smith, John Stossel, or one of the countless other talking heads that continually lie to their audience.

8. It's been a hell of a lot better than it was in '04. Not good, but improved.
