Long long ago, in the dawn of time (when the primaries were about to start), I was mostly undecided but with a slight dislike of Hillary. There are two things that solidified my position:
1: There were a lot of posts that referred to people as "Hillary Haters." That sounded to me like some cheap marketing phrase, like "Super Saver," or "Dilly Deluxe" - a phrase that trivialized the real concerns that people had about Hillary. Even though it may not have been intended, it seemed to be applied to anyone that didn't actively support Hillary. Unfairly or not, it turned me away from Hillary more and more - I attributed her supporters to her, which is why it may have been unfair. However, I've seen the same qualities in Hillary - the same snarkiness (change you can Xerox), the same arrogance since then.
2: The Obama Cult. If you were for Obama and not Hillary, it was because you were in the cult. This was like the stupid marketing lines that Bush and Rove put out - invented the internet, flip-flopper - that really didn't say anything about either candidate, didn't make any real point, contained no information. Instead, these were little things that the public could repeat over and over, things that weren't true but had a nice ring to them. The whole cult thing is amusing now in that Hillary supporters very much seem like cultists, parroting Hillary-hymns like some deranged gospel and statistics that support their cause but have no relation to reality, changing rules to suit their beliefs and calling it righteousness. And again, the whole cultist thing trivialized any real reasons people had for liking Obama.
These two things, more than anything, set the whole tone of the primary. A lot of people here have said this is very much like the Bush/Rove style of campaigning and I agree. It the kind of crap I'd really like to see end.
