Poll shows McCain, Obama in tight race in Michigan
Associated Press
7:13 PM CDT, May 28, 2008

DETROIT - A new poll of likely Michigan voters shows Republican John McCain and Democrat Barack Obama in a tight race.

The poll for The Detroit News and WXYZ-TV found 44 percent saying they'd back McCain in a hypothetical presidential election. Forty percent backed Obama.

EPIC-MRA telephoned 600 people May 19-22. The poll's margin of sampling error is 4 percentage points up or down.

An April 3-8 EPIC-MRA poll of 600 likely Michigan voters found 43 percent for Obama and 41 percent for McCain.

The new poll found Hillary Clinton helping Obama as his vice presidential candidate when matched against McCain with ex-rival Mitt Romney as vice presidential candidate. Fifty-one percent said they'd back Obama-Clinton to 44 percent for McCain-Romney.

24. NO. Hillary stands for everything Obama is campaigning against...
He would lose with her on the ticket because many people, including me, won't vote for Hillary Clinton. I don't care if Jesus Christ is the presidential candidate.

Please give it a rest!

Obama gets to pick the V.P.--it's not up to Hillary!

And...no one said McCain is picking Romney...so this poll is basically garbage!

(Yikes, edited because in the dark I had my exclamation point wrong! I'm really not a freeper, trust me!!!!!)

7. So why dont they run polls with a ficticious McCain VP?
Suppose McCain picks someone unpopular, with 50% negatives, who has been a known liar?

How does Obama fare with Hillary as McCain's VP?

11. Either the polls are bullshit, or the people answering the questions are bullshit
For any person who says they support an Obama/Clinton ticket, to say if that doesn't happen they will vote for mccain, tells me someone is either lying, or doesn't care about

The Iraq War
The economy, especially the phil graham enron/loophole which mccain supports
High energy and food prices
Jobs being shipped overseas
The Supreme Court
The environment
The GI Bill
The head start program

Or they actually want someone who has voted with bush 95% of the time

It is so fun to watch idiots spew bullshit all over the place

She lost. She needs to take a break and reflect, and then plan her future.

29. Actually, 600 respondents is adequate sample for Michigan...
Assuming, of course, that the poll was conducted in a manner which will produce information the subject/target population they are questioning about.

Unfortunately, there is NO way for the public to ascertain how the poll was conducted. This hould be public information, but it is not.

14. Obama is yet to actively campaign in Michigan
His numbers will shoot up. I'm not worried at all about this poll.

Wasn't JOhn Edwards leading in Iowa in most polls till late in the game? Polls are a snapshot in time.

21. Shove your polls up your ass. They mean nothing. Seriously, nobody gives a shit
except people that somehow want to make it seems as if May polls are the end all be all of what we need to be focusing on when they are a piss poor indicator of what will happen in the fall.

I'm so fucking sick of all you Clinton supporters cherry picking and posting poll after poll as if any of it means anything.

It doesn't.

Stop doing it.

Hillary lost.

Live with it.

22. Obama will appear in Michigan on June 2 (in Oakland County) - we'll see how he polls then
He does VERY well when he appears at campaign events. There's no word yet on where he'll be and how many will see him, but it'll be interesting.

28. Considering it's still early, that McCain has gotten a free pass, that we're in the middle of
an enormous Clinton-supporter tantrum, and that Obama hasn't really campaigned in MI yet...I'm thinking MI is blue.

30. Latest poll has nothing to do with what would actually happen in the GE.
Hillary as running mate would be a disaster of epic proportions.
