PREDICTION: Hillary Won't Drop Out After Obama Clinches
Edited on Thu May-29-08 08:12 AM by IWantAnyDem
I think that's pretty self evident.

It's also self evident that Hillary will become the biggest laughingstock in political history if she stays in much longer than Friday of next week. The late night jokes, the SNL skits, the Onion Headlines, it will all pile on so much that she will become the biggest embarrassment to the Washington establishment ever. She'll make Bush seem almost normal by comparison.

So the longer that she remains in it after Obama has already won it, the more she will become a nobody in American politics.

It's a sad ending to what was probably one of the most promising poltiical careers ever seen. She could have easily ended up on the ticket had she taken a different road, and guaranteed herself the presidency in 2016. Now, if Obama should somehow lose this year, she won't even be in contention for the 2012 nod.

1. If she drops out, then she will have to campaign for Obama
She would sooner rip out every finger and toe nail, with a pair of rusty pliers, than do that

2. Once Obama clinches the nomination
The press should start ignoring Clinton's campaign, since it will no longer be relevant to the General Election.

over Hillary is beyond me.

Even if she doesn't, it'll be at a point where she is just a sideshow.

Move the fuck on.

YOU are simply helping her garner more attention.

6. She's not going to drop out if he wins in November
I fully expect to see her standing in front of the Capitol in January of 2009 demanding that Florida's delegation get credentialed.

13. SDs will overwhelm it I suspect BUT... she's going to bargain at the Convention
so we'll have a "presumptive" nominee but Clinton will continue to try to make headlines until August... she won't get what she wants from the credentials committee and her "folk" will raise hell there.

16. A good portion of her own super delegates will jump ship
within the first two weeks after Obama clinches.

They don't want to be on the wrong side of history.

Edited on Thu May-29-08 08:23 AM by Crisco
I'm talking specifically of those who have seen other candidates bring it all the way to the convention in the past: they will see this as Hillary stepping back and "letting the boy win," a part of their training many have been fighting against all their lives.

25. There's Nothing In That
About what to say or why, and even if there's another one that does, it wouldn't be saying anything that HC's voters have already said, themselves, without McCain's help.

Even if - especially if - Obama does indeed clinch, he needs Clinton to remain in the race for political cover.

22. I think that's because
Obama won't clinch.

Since the Superdelegates are free to change their mind right up until the vote, there really isn't a clinching.

24. Its over
Beyond the warnings already given by Patterson, Feinstein and Schumer there is another reality that super delegates noted along time ago and is not mentioned here.

Her campaign is bankrupt. No party is going to nominate a candidate that cannot fund itself when they have the option to nominate one that is awash in money.

All of the farcical threads aside Senator Clinton's support has been declining significantly and now in her home state she has a narrower lead that Obama against McCain.

27. One only has to take notice of the venues in which Hillary Clinton has
recently been participating in to see they have NO money. The locations and events Hillary has been seen are free ie supermarkets, Mt. Rushmore, beaches, etc. It struck me that they are only able to pay for travel and accommodations for a reduced staff.

Her campaign's ability to raise funds has been significantly reduced and that is VERY telling.
