Its mighty quiet in here today.
Is it the lull before the storm or has the worst of it already passed us?

Cheers to Obama for winning the nomination and to Clinton for running a very very tough campaign.

8. Your sexist: turns out it is a fat GUY Rendell Doesn't Think Clinton Can Win
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2008/05/28/rendell_doesnt_think_clinton_can_win.html

Pennsylvania Gov. Ed Rendell, who supports Sen. Hillary Clinton for president, now says it's unlikely she'll win the nomination, ABC News reports.

Said Rendell: "I'm a realist, and I think most likely the superdelegates will give Sen. Obama the votes he needs. I don't think the DNC is going to fairly adjust what happened in Florida... I don't think they're going to fairly adjust it. So I think it's very unlikely that Senator Clinton can prevail. I think that means we're not going to field our strongest candidate."

I'm sorry, but that was my first thought while reading his words... "don't think the DNC is going to fairly adjust what happened in Florida".... "we're not going to field our strongest candidate." Way to draw the party together there mr. Ed:eyes:

sorry for the grumpiness... i'm having a wee bit of a bad day:(

14. It Is A Species Of Jinx, Sir, In Baseball Lore
To say out loud a pitcher has retired every batter without giving up a hit is to ensure someone will tag the ball good before the aim ends, and ruin the achievement....

Speaking purely as a moderator here, I do hope the sense this forum is a bit calmer continues and solidifies in coming days.

17. ooooo - the *jinx* part is what I wasn't getting - thanks!
And to your hope: I was going to remark last night that I think gdp has gotten a lot better. The pockets of vitriol, while still vitriolic, seem to me to be smaller, and more agreement-filled-space in between those pockets.

Maybe it's just me.

I hope I didn't jinx the presumptive nominee. I shall where my hat backwards all day now. I am personally making an effort for the better with my responses here at DU. Hopefully I haven't caused too much heartburn for the mods.

edited for grammar

25. IMHO, the "quiet" is due to the attention being paid to McClelland. Thus, the Clinton and Obama
partisans do not have the stage all to themselves to attack their opponent.

For once, the attention is on the true enemy.

And it is nice, for a change.

30. There is nothing to say here today...
Most of the postings I've seen have been about how we should let a Republican be veep and others hold high cabinate positions. I reject all of that, I'm a Democrat. If this board is going to promote Republican openly, I'm really not interested in playing. RFK Jr is trashed and Colin Powell and Chuck Hagel touted. What is to be said?

38. Perhaps a blending of today's issues
And make Scotty the veep and have done with it. It is all about keeping the GOP in the White House I guess, so why not? Scotty, Hagel, even Cheney is available. Gannon? How about Duke Cunningham, he's looking. Vitter? Jeb? Hey why not. Democrats need not apply.

36. The worst is over
and it will be completely nailed shut and over very soon. I don't read any of the pro Clinton posts (mostly) and turn off the tv on the few occasions that they do cover Hillary.

I wouldn't even be on today, except we've had some unseasonable rain and I'd rather not hike/bike in the rain (I do go out daily, but only in between showers). I am kind of on hold, waiting for next week when the last states are done, and then hope to be back more discussing real issues for the upcoming GE run.

Pretty excited about that upcoming process; but know it will go smoother and be more enjoyable once Ms. Clinton is prevailed upon to do the right thing, which is admit this is over. That gives her less than one week to get that together and still exit somewhat on her own terms. I don't really care anymore how she addresses her second place position; it is irrelevant if democrats really wish to take back the WH.
