Lunch with Chelsea Clinton.
Actually, in the booth next to me.

Met my wife in downtown Billings today to vote early at the courthouse (+2 for Obama).

After voting we walked to Rocket Burritos a few blocks away. Just as we got there a black Suburban sped up to the curb and a big guy in a suit got out and stood next to the back door. I was hoping Obama would get out (he's in Great Falls tomorrow), but it was Chelsea and her two assistants. We got in line and Chelsea, flanked by her "friends" stood in line behind us.

She looked great! I said hello and welcomed her to Billings. She saw my "I voted" sticker so I shrugged and said..."Obama".
She was funny and said she wished she could have caught me before I went in!

She said she had just finished a meet and great at the Brew Pup and was joining her dad in Anaconda later.

It was really cool meeting her and sharing a dining room with her for 45 minutes!

(The secret service seem to have a very boring job. They quietly sat by the door and watched her eat.)

On what basis do you conclude that she is great?

Anything specific that she has done/said/written?

To say someone is great means you admire them and what they've done. Chelsea has done nothing.

32. She survived
Edited on Fri May-30-08 11:10 AM by Nederland
She grew up in the White House, watched her family's most private affairs aired on the global stage, and turned out reasonably normal.

That's an accomplishment in my book.

She should have correct her mother not lied to back her up. Nothing great in that.

31. Infatuation only
People think Brad Pitt is great too. Or Carrie Underwood. Or any other celebrity. People form visceral reactions to famous people for no real reason. So when someone says Chelsea is great, I have to ask, "Why is she great?" She hasn't done anything in her life that would even approach greatness. She went to school, got a high-paying job, took a leave of absence to campaign for her mom, and may go back to her high-paying job. Where is the greatness?

Always kind of fun to run into a famous person. Don't know why but it is. I guess it's Dana Carvey's grapefruit theory at work.

Seeing Chelsea is no different from seeing any other famous person. It's not like she's actually accomplished anything to make her famous, or make her especially worthy of recognition.

53. Especially for Dems! My long time dental hygienist is a Clinton supporter. We always talk
politics and we always agree - until last month when I went in for my teeth cleaning. She was so funny. She kept talking up Hillary and every time I'd start to say something about Obama, she'd say, got to work on your teeth now and then she'd spray me in the face with the rinse water.

Her husband is an Obama supporter and she says he's got an Obama button on his side of the bed and she has her Clinton button on her side.

All the Clinton supporters I know are planning to vote Obama in the general. They still don't like to admit he is all but nominated, but they are definitely going to vote for him in the GE. It's pretty easy to be magnanimous, since it looks like Obama is going to do very well here in the state. In fact, I'm looking for Montana's pledged delegates to put Obama over the 2025 number and give him the nomination.

Then I expect we will see almost all of the remaining Supers hoping aboard the train and padding the numbers big time.

Missoula Obama folks are throwing an election night bash at the Wilma Theater. Two local bands, the mayor, some other artists and watching the returns on the BIG screen.

there are TONS of positions there. If you think there are only the folks who show up on TV, you're missing something. The VAST majority of those working in the West Wing are never seen. As for experience, yeah, she's got bunches. Personally I'd stick her in the communications staff.

22. Chelsea came off as stunningly naive
when she had this to say last February:

The question was one she had heard before, but this time it was asked in downright hostile terms.

“Has your mother shown any remorse for the fact that her vote cost Iraqis a million of their lives?” a student asked Chelsea Clinton on Monday at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

Ms. Clinton replied: “She cast a vote based on the best available evidence. Perhaps you had clairvoyance then, and that’s extraordinary.”

49. I'll explain
Hey, I saw Johnny Depp outside a hotel once and said hi. I delivered a pizza once to Chris Evert. I got Bob Denver's autograph once. We've all had brushes with fame. Who cares. Celebrity worship is silly, especially when the famous person has done nothing to become famous.

I have nothing against the OP's initial story. My point is that Chelsea is being proclaimed to be great by some people on here. And that some people really like her. I'm just wondering why. She hasn't done anything in her life that would suggest greatness. She went to school, like millions of kids do. She got a great, high-paying job out of college (which millions of kids CAN'T do), she's rich beyond belief, and she can take a leave of absence with no worries whatsoever. I just don't see anything "great" about her.

As for her being beautiful, sorry but I don't agree.

I'm not bashing Chelsea. I'm just saying she hasn't done anything to warrant praise.

But it wasn't home delivery. She and her husband, John Lloyd, came into the place where I worked in London to pick up the pizza. I just brought it out from the kitchen. Chicago Pizza Pie Factory in London, 1986.

They were both great. And so smart. HA HA
