HuffPo: The Trap: Clinton's "Briarpatch" Strategy For The DNC Rules Committee Meeting
please delete if a dupe...

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/m.s.-bellows/the-trap-clintons-briarpa_b_104198.html

"FOREWORD: Barack Obama and Howard Dean are about to walk into Harold Ickes' trap tomorrow, and they aren't likely to even realize their mistake until Hillary Clinton cries "foul!" next week and announces that "justice" and "voters' rights" are forcing her to carry her campaign all the way to the Democratic Convention next August.

By leaning toward implementing a compromise "split the baby" decision tomorrow on how to allocate the Michigan and Florida delegates -- a compromise that nearly all observers see as a setback for Clinton -- the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee ("RBC"), the Obama campaign and other well-meaning Democrats will actually be throwing Brer Clinton into the briar patch -- giving her exactly the excuse she wants to continue her Quixotic campaign. "

much more at link...

what are your thoughts? Does this need to get sent toHoward Dean ASAP?

2. He's a smart man.
He knows that this has been Hillary's wedge issue for 2 months now. He also knows that the first thing Hillary does in the morning and the last thing she does before bed is thank Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow for providing her campaign's raw materials.

Its pretty simple at this point. She can yell and scream all she wants until Tuesday. But after Tuesday, the only people in her corner will be Bill, Terry, and the .001% of the political-internet wastrels that still visit Hillis44. And those people aren't particularly dangerous political opponents.

Her trying to prolong it past Tuesday would be like me declaring for the NBA draft.

9. I think so, too...
Voters tend to reward people who can make reasonable compromises. If the DNC comes up with something that seems fair and equitable, the label "sore loser" is going to be applied to anybody who won't accept the outcome.

4. Hillary's platform crumbles completely if she continues...
Her supporters could latch on to the belief that Hillary wanted all their votes to count. This argument disappears after June 3. If she continues after that point, it will be clear to all, including the Supes her supporters that Hillary is only staying in for personal reasons.

Worse, it will be clear that she is hurting the party in hopes of her own political gain.

Bottom line, she can continue just as Ron Paul does, but her reputation will be mudd. And the press will stop paying attention to her. She still may be able derail Obama's campaign by a few percentage points, but NOBODY will vote for her in 4 years. Kennedy didn't run in 1984 either - this stuff pretty much ruins your chances.

5. By leaning towards a compromise, the DNC
will look weak and ineffectual, and they brought it upon themselves. They should have started with a solution that they would not have to back down from, and that certainly was not the "death penalty" that they gave Florida and Michigan.

Clinton should not get full seating. If the DNC had done the right thing to begin with, this would not be an issue, or at least nearly the issue it is.

6. I disagree, the DNC has rules which allow the sanctions to be revisited. They are. A compromise

will be struck and that's how organizations are run.

As for Clinton?

whatever, she's close to irrelevant at this point.

13. No, the DNC isn't poorly run. ANY organization is potentially at the mercy of an insane member

16. Without that "insane member", the issue would not be revisited at all.
It was grossly unfair and ill advised to begin with. Clinton, love her or hate her, will end up at least getting the penalty back to where it should have been in the first place, and perhaps enough voters will forget about it by November for Obama to have a chance.

8. The alternative is to reward Hillary, Michigan, and Florida for breaking the rules.
Ain't gonna happen.
Let her cry until August.
If Obama loses this fall in November - it's directly because of HILLARY!!!!!

10. She'll suspend
When you have the likes of Joe Biden, Al Gore, Jimmy Carter, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean, Harry Reid, Barbara Boxer, and other major Democratic Party figures all proclaiming we have our presumptive nominee, she'll wipe off the cake makeup, pull off the rubber nose and take off the oversized shoes.

12. I'm hoping that a whole bunch
of her super-delegates leave her after Tuesday and push Obama so far ahead she just has to concede. At this point there isn't anything that can be done by Dean. No matter what if she wants to go to the convention there is NO ONE that can stop her. Only way she stops in my opinion is if she has 100+ of her supers leave her.

To me the power is in the hands of her current super-delegates. They can show her it's over.

bye the way :hi: AgentCarrie it's me SiN
