Hello!
We are approaching the last week of the democratic primary season. There is an important meeting of the rules committee on Saturday, May 31;the primary in Puerto Rico on June 1; and the Montana and South Dakota primaries on June 3.

This has been a contest that will be remembered in the history books. Everyone who has voted, invested time and energy, and/or contributed money to a campaign has been a participant in one of the most important processes in democratic politics. Thank you.

In the movie "Cinderella Man," heavyweight boxing champion Jimmy Braddock's manager asks him, "Is there anywhere else that you'd rather be?" That's a good question for grass roots democrats today.

55. I AM SO JEALOUS OF YOU
That is one cute puppy. It belongs at my house, I am sure.

My dog Jasmine was a black cock-a-poo. She had a litter of three. One little absolutely gorgeous female had black, curly hair all over, but one large perfect white circle over her left eye. I named her Domino and trained her within six weeks. I adopted this perfect little puppy with the perfect name out to a wonderful family. They truly loved her, and promptly changed her name to Sally. I have never recovered from the shock of Domino being renamed Sally, but one day I will recover from the stress of this election.

Thanks for the thread and the beautiful picture.

Sam

10. From my perspective (shared by few here), it has been an embarassment of riches.
We have had two groundbreaking candidates. Formerly taboo subjects have been brought into the sunshine and discussed frankly by Democrats.

I feel very fortunate to have been a part of this process.

49. My normal brother
used to raise them on the west coast. He told me that he thought I get one. I used to have Labs, and loved them. I had one, then took my father's when he died. After they died (very old age), I got Mugsey. Just as promised, I now have a guy who acts like a clown most of the time, but does not anyone near our young children if they drive up and I'm not outside.

I'm ready for starting on the fall campaign, too. I've found the primary to be intense, and look forward to a fun election in the fall.

So lucky to be married to a boxing fanatic or I might never have seen that movie. I can watch it over and over. It deserved a lot more attention.

And I guess you're right, no there isn't anywhere else I'd rather be. Well, except playing with my grandbabies which I'm off to do in about ten minutes.

On edit:

In fact, that's when we first saw it. We were in Eugene when my first grandchild was born. Had gotten a room so we could spend lots of time with him. We were so wound up, we decided to go to a late movie and Cinderella Man was playing. Everyboy went to some superhero movie, the theater was almost empty. God we cried our eyes out.

14. My great uncle
Edited on Fri May-30-08 02:54 PM by H2O Man
was one of Braddock's sparring partners and friends.

PS: We went to the fights last night. An undefeated welterweight who was being contracted by ESPN and Golden Boy Promotions (Wayland Willingham; 13-0 going in) dropped his left hand in the first round. Bad mistake. A journeyman from Philly knocked him out cold with a hard shot, and hit him with a three-punch combination on the way down.

19. The guy from Philly
came into the ring in a very confident way. A lot of the crowd "booed" him, but I thought that he must have had a plan. Willingham is a really good boxer, and kept circling and jabbing. The guy cut off the ring, and got him to the ropes, and it was over. The ref didn't respond -- I think he was sure Willingham would win -- and when he got hit, he dropped both hands while standing straight up, out cold on his feet. It was impressive, but I felt bad when an unconscious man was quivering on the canvas. He needed medical attention, but eventually stood up and left the ring on his own.

I've always liked guys like Braddock and Jersey Joe Walcott, who worked for my grandfather's construction company before winning the title. They were good boxer-punchers. I grew up hearing a lot of stories about them in the "good old days."

51. He's watching the puppies
run about. There were also a bunch of neighborhood children playing with the puppies, and even though he likes children, he's too big to play with little ones when they are running about. A wag of his tail can knock a little kid over.

My youngest daughter (10) earned an invatation to a national young scholar's conference in January. One day is spent with John and Elizabeth Edwards, and then they get to be at the inaguration. I wish I could be there, myself.

22. "Cinderella Man"
"Cinderella Man"

A modest man from Mandrake
Travelled rich to the city
He had a need to discover
A use for his newly found wealth

Because he was human
Because he had goodness
Because he was moral
They called him insane
Delusions of grandeur
Visions of splendor
A manic depressive
He walks in the rain

Eyes wide open
Heart undefended
Innocence untarnished...

Cinderella Man
Doing what you can
They can't understand
What it means
Cinderella Man
Hang on to your plans
Try as they might
They cannot steal your dreams

In the betrayal of his love he awakened
To face a world of cold reality
And a look in the eyes of the hungry
Awakened him to what he could do

He held up his riches
To challenge the hungry
Purposeful motion
For one so insane
They tried to fight him
Just couldn't beat him
This manic depressive
Who walks in the rain

- RUSH

I can't express how much I love Rotties, but they do need proper obedience training and lots of love. They are incredibly emotionally sensitive. It pains me when people malign them, but that's usually the fault of their "owners."

Here's my other one (both have passed on). I've had three, and they were all great blessings in my life.

I've heard they have such a high IQ that they can suffer from psychoses, mental illness on par with humans, and need to be raised sanely.. Of course all animals should be, put they are sensitive..
