Hillary Clinton Expects Superdelegates to Decide Next Week
HELENA, Mont. -- Hillary Rodham Clinton says she expects her marathon Democratic race against Barack Obama to be resolved next week. In a conference call with Montana reporters, Clinton said Friday: "I think that after the final primaries, people are going to start making up their minds. I think that is the natural progression that one would expect."

Montana and South Dakota hold the final primaries Tuesday.

Clinton says superdelegates will have to decide who is the stronger candidate in the fall.

Clinton said, "I think that people will have to ask themselves those questions, who would be the best president in terms of preparation and readiness and effectiveness, and who would be the stronger candidate."

1. Superdelegates to tell Clinton it's over and she's lost next week
and what will she say then?

4. I think she'll accept it.
They have all talked and winked. The supers have told her the same thing they have told Obama.

We are going to support Obama after the last primary.

2. I don't think she's taking it to the Convention.
Any threats of that are just to maintain the appearance that she is not giving up.

And, I don't think anyone can deny that she didn't give up, and gave it her all.

Hillary Clinton is a strong person, and she ran a tough race. She is no idiot, though.

3. Any time we think she is not going to engage in some treachery, we are proven wrong....

6. I think that's why they're trying to spin this Father Phelge business
desperate to get that into the weekend spin cycle.... but it just ain't enough to compete with Scotty the Duck's book.

7. I've been duped before, but I just don't see it going to the Convention.
You have Pelosi saying she will step in, Reid saying essentially the same. She has no support to take it to the Convention. At least 30-40 of her superdelegates have been talking amongst themselves that they will move to Obama should she not drop.

Some die-hard supporters would fallow her off a cliff, but not many, not enough.

SHe knows the game is up, and will take a unifying bow.

I really hope I'm not wrong this time.

8. Agreed.

I'm pretty convinced she'll be dropping out next week. Her quote about the SD's is very telling, and she's too smart to fight it through to the convention. There's too much to lose politically.

9. IF she trully wants another shot in 2012, she won't take it to the convention
beacuse if she takes it to the convention, she takes the full blame if Obama loses.

10. And alienates more voters.
Loses friends in the Senate, support in NY, and Bill's Legacy.

She will bow out with a great unity speech.

12. She's dragging it out every bit as far as she can
because she does know the longer she drags it out, the more likely Obama will lose.

But she simply CANNOT look like she wants him to lose to set herself up for 2012.

It's a delicate balance. She knows that her one last hope of being president will be for Obama to lose this year and look like he lost all on his own.

I do expect surreptitious divisive camapaigns to try and get Clinton supporters to not support Obama, but there will be no direct link back to Hillary.

5. Hell, at this point they're probably just asking themselves...
...who they can stand to deal with!

13. She already knows the answer.
Which is why this statement strikes me as accepting the loss.

14. This sounds like her 'Obama and I will always be friends' moment in the debate
right before her 'Shame on you Barack Obama' episode. She's lulling us to sleep before she tries to slam us down.

15. I have thought many times, who has any influence...
on hillary, who does she trust, who has her ear at this point outside of her inner circle? I think she has no problem telling Howard Dean, Jimmy Carter and especially Al Gore to go eff themselves, so who's left? Maybe it's going to be the top ranking super delegate senators with seniority or maybe her campaign finance adviser. Anybody's guess, she's become a real enigma to me at this point.

Oh, well, we shall see come next week.

16. I think since it's been obvious the SD's won't force her out until
the last Primary, she is taking advantage of that.

She knows it's over. Rendell, Shumer, DiFi and other of her loyal supporters stay only until the last vote.

17. I hope your right, but I don't trust her at this point...
I have never bought into the 'she's running to ruin obama and set herself up for 2012' meme. I think she has been dead set on 2008 and is convinced it's her time and if obama loses, so what, he shouldn't of gotten in her way.

If she comes out tomorrow and starts in on election theft bullshit, we'll know. I'll give her the benefit of a doubt one last time, but that's it. I hope I'm wrong and your right, I really do.
