So Obama had to disassociate himself from Rev Wright and now Father Pfleger;
looking over what they said and some of the comments made here, he's going to have to denounce us next!

1. Im a Catholic and I think what he said was great
I have the pleasure of not running for prez, though, so be it, the damage is done, unlike Hillarys assassination tango last week, most people are predisposed to feel that way about Hillary so no harm to OBAMA

I thought what he said was actually pretty funny too
It was far less insulting than some things I've seen posted around here by the Clinton supporters.

13. and by hillary herself for that matter
but ohhh no, lets worry about someone who has nothing to do with obama or his campaign and avoid actual real issues.

thats the way the clinton campaign has been for the last 3 months. i wouldnt expect some of her die hards to change that stance.

2. I don't think he should have disassociated himself from either one...
Edited on Fri May-30-08 05:12 PM by polichick
They're separate people involved in a church with a tradition of preaching the social gospel. They have flamboyant styles ~ big deal!

(I do think he should disassociate himself from us though.)

the priest is just a flat out nut job.

5. seems like they wont be satisfied until he denounces all black
people, left wing liberals and progressives. Now David Gregory is leading off his show with the Father Pfleger comments with Pat Buchanon leading the charge. It still cracks me up for MSNBC to allow bigot Pat buchanon to comment on race un oppose.

6. Aww man...
I liked Wright and Pfleger too. I don't think American's are as weak mentally as people on the right seem to think, and most of us are mature enough to understand more millitant approaches (ideologically) to understanding black poverty and liberation.

My problem is when they go overboard emotionally. Pfleger was so great when he was calmly talking to that FOX reporter. He nailed every point so lucidly and reasonably, and I was so proud to see that video.

When he is animated though, it is a little embarassing. The same for Wright, take his appearance on Moyer's show, and then his other appearances.

I know they are angry. They do have a right to be angry, but they are so much more effective when they are calm and cool.

It's a shame that Barack has to fight these fights now. I feel like the whole argument about Wright and Pfleger is going to be used to paint him as "just another politician" willing to say anything to get elected.
In this case I think that opinion is wrong. Barack isn't afraid to be around people who are passionate about what they believe is injustice. It shows strength on his part.

I hope America sees through the cheap tactics.

7. What Father Pfleger
said was true and funny. I listen to his comments several times today and laughed the entire time. I say leave the Father alone and if Hilly and her fans get all in a tizzy over being mocked then Hillary shouldn't be mocking people. Her supporters had no problem with her mocking Obama supporters.

14. Rev Wright is ONE OF US. Father Pfleger is ONE OF US.
Real honest, moral people who stand up & promote what is right & good about America - and attack what isn't.

The MSM, the hysterical microencephletic punditry and *mostly* Obama's POLITICAL enemies have have made it necessary for him to distance himself from them - BECAUSE THEY TOLD THE TRUTH!

16. And Rezko and who knows how many others?
Obama is proving to be about as loyal as Scotty McClellan. He is throwing people off the boat and under the bus as fast as he can.

Who will be the next loyal, long-time, 20-year-plus friend of Barrack Obama to get dumped?

BO seems to be about as loyal as some of the former 'friends' of the Clintons are.

since hes said plenty of offensive stuff imho this primary season.
