I don't have a dog in the FL/MI delegate fight except for the feeling, born of teaching, that once you create a rule you must punish those that break it, or none of your rules will be followed. The question of whether it was a good rule to begin with? I leave that to people who about it care far more than I do.
Having said that, I see tomorrow as a terrific opportunity. In my perfect world, Barack Obama allows the delegates to be seated as they voted, in exchange for Hillary Clinton's exit from the race. There are great advantages for both: Obama gets to look tolerant and magnanimous, and Clinton gets to look like she was fighting for the "little guy". The Democrats will avoid a fight and Clinton gets to exit on a high note. In my opinion, everyone wins.
Barack, Hillary: please take this advice. John McCain, facing a terrible economy and an unpopular war that was caused by a man he voted with 100% of the time, is still managing to keep this close. We may look back on May 31, 2008 and see it as the moment of the Democratic party's greatest triumph. The choice is yours.
End this tomorrow. For the good of this country and the Democratic party.
Sincerely,
Patrick Bracken (aka Finnfan@DemocraticUnderground.com)
