I feel like I did before the Iraq war...surrounded by propaganda and drum beating.
Only this time it is one of our own spreading the propaganda against our party. There is no truth on the local news or the newspapers about the real story behind the DNC sanctions. There is just spin.

The worst offenders are Bill Nelson, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and Corinne Brown...congressional Democrats whose support for Hillary Clinton has clouded their vision of what a party really is about.

Corinne Brown has twice on TV fibbed that it was all Howard Dean's fault and called for him to step down.

She led the screaming at the DNC protest in April, saying they would shut down the convention. She is a speaker tomorrow.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz was caught on video responding to Howard Dean who said that rules are needed.

She said "we need to stop worrying about whether rules were broken and that all of this talk about the rules and that kind of thing is counterproductive".

Bill Nelson was recently on national TV doing the usual blame game on the national party. Here is the video from Morning Joe.

He even had the nerve to invoke religion when he said "come now and let us reason together."

I found some more names that are organizing the protest tomorrow in DC. They are big names, they are deadly serious.

Clinton Backers Plan Rules and Bylaws Protest

The cracks in the divided Democratic Party just got a little deeper.

A group of high-profile Hillary Clinton supporters, Democratic fundraisers and Florida Democrats is planning to hold a day-long rally Saturday outside the Washington hotel where the Democratic National Committee's Rules and Bylaws Committee Meeting will be considering the fate of votes cast in the Michigan and Florida primaries to call attention to what they say is the exclusion of women's voices from the democratic -- and Democratic -- process and the disenfranchisement of Michigan and Florida voters.

"Our purpose is not to divide the party or attack the DNC or Senator Obama," said the Hillary Rapid Responders, one of the rally planners, in an online announcement of it. "At the same time, Hillary's strong support cannot be dismissed in DNC efforts to unify the party."

Of course the purpose is to divide, of course it is.

The event is being co-organized by the Women Count PAC -- founded by five top Clinton supporters, including longtime Clinton friend and fundraiser Susie Tompkins Buell and Stacy Mason, a former editor of Roll Call - -and a coalition of disparate other groups working under the umbrella of the New York-based group Count Every Vote '08. It will draw together some of Clinton's most loyal backers and be emceed by Jehmu Greene, the former president of Rock the Vote who sat on the DNC committee that spent 2005 trying to reform the party's primary process.

Announced speakers so far include National Organization for Women President Kim Gandy and Florida Democratic congresswoman Corinne Brown. Organizers say that they expect individuals to come in from 26 different states for the rally, as well as some major celebrity speakers, and that they are receiving logistical assistance or other support from the pro-Clinton United Federation of Teachers and EMILY's List. The group Florida Demands Representation, organized by James Hannagan, will also be there.

The rally was the brainchild of a young Clinton fundraiser and New York attorney who is a member of Count Every Vote '08, according to the group's spokeswoman Karen Feldman, a political consultant from Hudson, N.Y., who specializes in female candidates. Count Every Vote '08 first came together in mid-March to lobby Democratic superdelegates on behalf of Clinton. "When we started we were a group of women primarily supporting Hillary Clinton," said Feldman of the initial team, which also included legendary N.Y. Clinton fundraisers Ricki Lieberman, Pamela Hayes, and Barbara Layton, as well as Allida Black, the project director and editor of The Eleanor Roosevelt papers at George Washington University who has known Clinton for years through human rights circles.

These are serious people, and they mean business.

Hillary can stop it, she can reign these surrogates in. She can stop encouraging these protests.

In the movie recount, it was us against them. In the 2008 version playing out in living color in my state....it is us against us.

And all her hair bleach.

And her Jerry Curl

She is really getting some criticism from her constituents, but her support of Hillary is not wavering.

9. Debbie is stubborn about her Republican buddies here....but party leadership accepts it.
She is a rising star, and I am trying to find out who made her one. I found an article today about her, kind of like a puff piece cause she is getting so much flak. I have to read it again before I post about it.

She is important. She can get away with things others can't.

Someone, someones have picked her for great things, so she should act in a manner that befits that choosing...not saying rules don't matter.

33. Once again, your efforts to keep us all informed are
Appreciated and vital.

It's one thing when the lies on TV are about National Issues. It is easy to find alternative points of view then.

But when a struggle is regional, those of us outside the region have mostly Television to tell us the "facts." Which of course in this day and age makes one rather queasy. Television and Facts Are like Military and Intelligence.

You are a treasure, MF. The silver lining in this cloud of bleech.

2. I guess they want us to lose. The Dem Party is beginning to seem a self-loathing, discipline-less
collection of nothing but special interest groups and enormous egos jockeying for position--total power vacuum. Strong leadership tomorrow--meaning, the RBC either ignores these "protestors" or tells them to blow it out their asses--will help counter my growing unease with how things will end up in August.

11. Could Wasserman Schultz
possibly be more annoying? I saw her arguing on Tv the other day that Florida couldn't be sanctioned, because every vote counts, so rules be damned. When the moderator asked, then, if the candidate with the most votes should be the nominee, she said, "no," because the rules allow the superdelegates to vote any way they want.

Pick one! Either the rules are in force, or they aren't! You don't get to choose to follow only those rules that favor you!

the very worst of Democratic Party lore.

This episode has separated the wheat from the chaff.

Thanks for your reporting on his, mf, and insisting on the truth in the face of this giant pile of bullshit emanating from people who call themselves Democrats.

29. And some Florida leaders should lose their jobs because of their lies.
Because of how they tried to destroy the fundraising that was needed for the 50 state plan to pay salaries and insurance for the political directors.

They put themselves before everything else.

...just her 'base' if it is allowed to continue. But I think Pelosi and her S.W.A.T. team will be able to put an end to this temper tantrum. Hint: Pantsuits on sale June 4th.

18. Speaking of Emily's List....they are supporting Steve Cohen's opponent
in TN.

Cohen is a true progressive...why the hell are they doing this?

Someone from TN needs to make a stink about this.

http://www.swingstateproject.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=2123

"I'm not sure if this is a case of EMILY's List jumping the shark, drinking the gender essentialist Kool-Aid, or throwing Steve Cohen under the bus (maybe all three cliches at once?), but EMILY's List has endorsed Nikki Tinker in the primary in TN-09 rather than incumbent progressive Steve Cohen.
EMILY's List offered the following rationale:

"This is an extraordinary circumstance for us. We don't make these decisions lightly," said EMILY's List spokeswoman Ramona Oliver. "Nikki ran a strong race in 2006 has put a strong race together in 2008, and she's the only woman in this race."

Outrageous.

I have developed a deep dislike of those who slam Howard Dean and those who don't tell the truth about Florida. What will Wasserman Schultz do when Obama wins? How is acceptable she will not help fellow democrats because she is friends with the republicans. Floridians need to find some other shining star to replace the tarnished one.

35. madfloridian, how many posts did you have before this got personal?
I started following your blog/journal before I was even a member here and cited you liberally in many of my posts. In fact, I ran into you on a newspaper comment section before I even knew DU existed. You're part of the motivation for me coming here and donating. I had donated to Obama's campaign but never to a "message board." Your ability to lay out the realities on the ground has been an eye opening insight into the underbelly of the Dem party and I decided to support a forum that supports your insight. Thank you.

38. My First Post; I know it's late, but want to add my thoughts
I am a reader who has not posted to DU before. But I really want to thank you for expressing your frustration and I want to add my voice. I saw my Congresswoman, Corrine Brown on CSPAN yesterday, and I was mortified that someone as divisive and UNDemocratic as she showed herself to be was supposedly representing me. I am disgusted that anyone would spout the venom she does and claims she is speaking on behalf of Florida or those of us in Jacksonville.

I believe a number of short sighted politicians have put their own agendas before the people's needs or the party's needs. I believe a great deal of damage has been done through this selfish, demeaning behavior. If she and others do not make a quick turnaround and fully, sincerely, and energetically support the parties nominee as soon as the primary has run its course, I will work and contribute to see a real representative put into place here in Jacksonville and elsewhere in the state. The time has come to show integrity instead of this destructive self interest.

Thank you for offering this thread and giving me a chance to speak up.
